You need to choose very wisely and take the best courses to meet {graduation requirements and appropriately challenge yourself in preparation for college and career. all students must choose eight courses and four alternates, and you are strongly advised to coneult with pavents and teachers before making your selections. Students will record ther selections on the provided Registration Form and return that form to their Period 2 teacher by February 4. Remember that itis VERY likly that you will receive at least one. fof your alternate choices. Applications are due by February 26th (unless otherwise specified by the teacher of that course). Application courses grayed in the first/check column may not be selected as part of your elght courses at ths time; ‘thay will be added to your schedule later i you are selected for those courses. SCHEDULE CHANGES AND/OR ADJUSTMENTS: Students may make changes during their individual appointment or during the schedule change ‘window in May. However, itis extremely important to choose your courses wisely now because doing so gives you the best chance of getting the classes you most want. Schedule changes will be aceepted from May 4 ~ 18. There are no exceptions to the May 18" deadline except in cases of school errr. As always, ‘changes must be submitted via the online schedule change farm on the CCHS website. The last day to submit schedule changes is MAY 18" Students who experience a change in course eligility du to final course grades fr classes taken this year will have until June 30 to aévise their counselors that a schedule adjustment is needed (ex, move from Honors ta regular or vice versa). The way todo ths is to email your counselor; he/she willassess yout request. No course evel adjustments for Honors or AP will be considered after the June 30 deadline, so please plan accordingly. Please note that this snot tha same as changing your rind about a class; is simply changing levels in the same course due to new information (your final grade). The last day to request a schedule adjustment is June 30, Counselors will also assess final grades and make adjustments for course level as needed, HONORS & AP COURSES: The recommended guideline for choosing Honors and AP Coursess an “A” Inthe regular course or a“B” inthe Honors course that precedes it. Students are advised agains taking more than two AP courses in one semester. Those who wish to take a high number of AP courses during high schoo! should strategically plan so they can spread those courses out over 10"— 12" grades to prevent an AP overioad in any one yeer. You are strongly advised to consult with teachers before selecting honors or AP courses, Students must complete an AP Awareness form with Teacher and parent ‘signatures or they will be dropped from the AP course and placed in an alternate course. AP Awareness forms are located on the back ofthe registration card. YEARLONG AP COMBINATIONS: We are offering several yearlong combinations. You must select the proper yearlong sections for both courses. 11, AP Engligh Language & AP US History (11" graders; two credits, counts for English & American History I) 2. AP English Literature & AP European History (12 graders; two credits, counts for English V & 4" Social Studies) NCVPS and CCP: You may be interested in taking courses through NCVPS (North Carolina Virwal Public Schools) or Rowan-Cabarrus Community College's ‘CCP (Career & College Promise) programs. Counselors wil dscuss these during individual Advisement and must be selected during Individual Advisement NCVPS & CCP courses are not advisable for everyone and each has specific criteria, Well qualifiedstudents wil plan ahead, leacn about the programs and ‘come to individual advisement prepared with questions. NCVPSs reserved for courses we do not teach at CCHS. CCP is for 11" & 12" graders only. For all programs, students must meet a cumulative high School pre-requisite ofa minimum of 3.0 GPA. ADVANCED CTE COURSES: Preference in some very popular advanced CTE courses will be given to students closest to graduation ~ particularly ifthe course is needed to complete a CTE Career Cluster (ex. Foods |, Foods I, Health Science tl, etc.) FLEX Requests: All rising seniors must select & classes at registration.
