MEHRAN UNIVERSITY OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY,

JAMSHORO.
FIRST TERM FIRST YEAR (1ST TERM) B.E.(CIVIL) REGULAR
EXAMINATION 2004 OF 04-BATCH UNDER EXTERNAL SYSTEM.
ENGINEERING DRAWING
Dated: 10-05-2004.

Time Allowed: 03 Hours.

Max:Marks-80.

NOTE: ATTEMPT ANY FIVE QUESTIONS. ALL QUESTIONS CARRY EQUAL MARKS.

ASSUME DATA IF MISSING. GOOD HANDWRITING CARRIES MARKS.

Q. #1: Draw the projection of the line AB, 90mm long, its mid point M being 50mm
below the H.P and 40mm behind the V.P. The end A is 20mm below the H.P and
10mm behind the V.P. Show the traces and inclination with the two planes.
Q. #2: Draw a regular hexagon of 40 mm side, with its two sides vertical. Draw a circle
of 40 mm diameter in its center. The figure represents a hexagonal plate with a
hole in it and having its surface parallel to the V.P. Draw its projections when the
surface is perpendicular to H.P. and inclined at 60 to the V.P. Assume the
thickness of the plate to be equal to that of a line.
Q. #3: An isosceles triangle ABC, base 60 mm and altitude 60 mm also, has its base AC
in the H.P. and inclined at 45 to the V.P. The corners A and B are in the V.P. Draw
its projections.
Q. #4: A square pyramid, base 40 mm side and axis 60 mm long, has a triangular face on
the ground and the vertical plane containing the axis makes an angle of 45 with
the V.P. Draw its projections.
Q. #5: A tetrahedron of 80 mm long edges has one edge parallel to the H.P. and inclined
at 45 to the V.P. while a face containing that edge is vertical. Draw its projections.
Q. #6: A pentagonal prism has 50 mm base side and its axis is 60 mm long. It is placed
in first quadrant so that its axis is perpendicular to the H.P. and one of the sides of
the base is perpendicular to the V.P. An imaginary plane perpendicular to the V.P.
and inclined at an angle of your choice (other than zero) to the H.P. cuts the prism.
Develop the lateral surface of the lower part of prism.
Q. #7: Draw any three of the following rivets, having d=3cm.
(i)
Snap head rivet
(ii)
Pan head rivet
(iii)
Pan head with tapered neck
(iv)
Rounded counter sunk head.
Q. #8: Draw any three of the following threads, Assuming P=5cm in all cases.
(i)

American National Thread

(ii) Knuckle Thread

(iii) Whitworth thread
(iv) Square thread
(v) ACME thread
