Thislabreportaddressesanormalcellenvironment,whereactionpotentialsoccurinthe
neuronstriggerzonewhenitsmembranepotential(electricalcharge)risesandfalls,theneuron
thensendselectricalimpulsesdownanaxonawayfromthecellbodyanditwillalsoaddress
theeffectsoftoxinsontheactionpotentialfollowedbyreflextesting.Actionpotentialalso
knownasanerveimpulseistheeventsofelectricalresponsethattakeplaceinacell,caused
whendifferentionscrossestheneuronmembrane.Thefirsteventinanactionpotentialis
depolarization,wherethesodiumionsflowintothecellchangingthesodiumionsfroma
negativetoapositivelevelatthemembraneoftheneuron.Theevenafterdepolarization,the
cellrepolarizesitselfbyusingitssodiumpotassiumpumplocatedinthemembraneforevery
threesodiumionsitpumpsout,itpumpsintwopotassiumionsuntiltheproperchargeis
reached.Duringtherefractoryperiod,whichlastsaround1/2500pfofasecond,theaxons
cannotbestimulatedtoproduceanotheractionpotential.Thefigureslowbelowrepresentall
