CURRENT SITUATION
Room 318 has been equipped as a science room in years
past.
Currently it is being used as a fl ex space, storage, and a
testing area.
The classroom has large tables, a sink, SMART Board, science
equipment, and storage space with a refrigerator.
The classroom has an attached functioning greenhouse.
Large tables are ideal for the space and can be rearranged
easily, to make use of laptops, writing assignments, group
work, and small projects.
The back corner of the classroom is under utilized as storage
space. It also allows access to the green house.
The front section of the room next to the large sliding door
could be re-purposed, as it currently is used to store Rise
kits.

PROPOSAL SUMMARY
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)
career fi elds continue to grow regardless of a slow
economy. Introducing students to integrative STEM
concepts at a younger age has proven to make
students more likely to follow those career paths.
Having a space where students can imagine, design,
and construct authentic projects will give them the
best advantage for their future. I propose room 318 can
be transformed into an ideal learning space perfect for
the Expeditionary Learning model.
