Technology to Support Communication
Technology today is an important tool used for communication in the classroom. To be
able to communicate with parents and students through the use of technology will broaden the
spectrum of academic success. By the use of technology in the classroom it will enhance the
communication with parents, students and the global community.
Communication between teachers, parents, students, and the global community is used by
websites, phone call systems, parent portals, and online curriculum. How I will incorporate
technology in my classroom will be by first introducing the basics of operating a Chromebook or
iPad. Chromebooks will be used for strengthening reading comprehension and math skills. I will
also use the internet for websites that will give brain breaks that students need after long work

Teachers that promote parent involvement in their classroom will give their students
security of knowing that their parents are involved in their learning process. Parents have a
responsibility to keep themselves updated with the recent communication technologies and their
potential threats. (Delen, Kaya, 2015). There are many websites that are helpful for parents to
learn how to keep their children safe.

.Parent involvement promotes better student attendance, increased graduation rates and less grade
retention, higher parent and student satisfaction with school, less discipline reports, and higher
achievement scores in reading and math (Hiatt-Michael 2001).
Students today communicate with their friends using cell phones and other handheld
devices. When a student can communicate in the classroom using technology they can learn to
express themselves using technology that is familiar to them. They seem to enjoy learning when
they are able to use todays technology. Websites that are integrated into curriculum and include
two-way communication are the ones that are most useful. (Dunn, 2011).
Communicating with the global community is opening doors of adventures many students
could not experience without the use of technology. Talking with other students from different
cultures will give them a better understanding of how cultural diversity is impacting the world
today. It is important to use technology today to support communication between teachers,
students, and parents.
