Learning Objectives:
Understand what are the
broad generalization/concepts

develop?
U1 The student will
understand that changes occur
over time. These changes can
be slow or fast.

Know what are the tools,

vocabulary, symbols, etc. the
students will gain through the
lesson?
K1 The student will know
that the change of the season
into fall is a natural change.
K2 The students will know
that the changes of fall are
slow they happen over the
course of a few months, not
overnight.

Do what are the specific

thinking behaviors/procedures
students will be able to do
through this lesson?
D1 The student will take a
fall walk to point out signs of
fall.
D2 The student will create a
fall leaf art project.

Assessment: How will you assess?

To assess, I will see how the students respond to seeing fall changes if they can point out a few
that they have learned.
Procedure:
Before: Read Leaves by Marilyn Easton. Tell students to keep these in mind as we will go on a
fall walk outside. Tell students to be a detective for fall. Look for signs of fall outside while we
walk. If you see one, say I see fall! and the class will listen and we will take a pictures.
During: Go on walk and take pictures as the students point out signs of fall. Have each student
pick up a leaf on our walk for our art project.
After: Come back to the classroom and tell students that I will make a slide show of their
pictures to show tomorrow during history. Tell students to be looking for signs of fall even when
they are not at school. Have students create leaf artwork put leaf under paper and color on top
of the paper (demonstrate).

Differentiation:
I will ask varying levels of questions such as what happens in fall? With leaves on trees? With
plants? With animals? What happens with people in the fall? What happens with the
temperature?
