Modifying phrases add descriptive information to sentences.


Modifying phrases are non-essential parts of sentences and the SUBJECT
and PREDICATE will never be inside them.

In the sentence below, underline the subject, circle the predicate, and put
brackets around the modifying phrases (3).

In the early morning, Sam takes her energetic puppy for a walk, basking in
