An Amendment is an article added to the Constitution.

FIRST AMENDMENTFREEDOM OF SPEECH

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech,
or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to
petition the government for a redress of grievances.

This Amendment affects me

because I have the right to
voice my opinion.

FIFTH AMENDMENT- RIGHT TO GRAND JURY INDICTMENT

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a
presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces,
or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person
be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be
compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty,
or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use,
without just compensation.

This Amendment affects me because I

deserve to know my rights if I was being
arrested.

FOURTH AMENDMENT- FREEDOM

FROM UNREASONABLE SEARCHES AND
SEIZURES

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects,
against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants
shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and
particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be
seized.

This Amendment affects me because I

dont believe a cop should search my
property without reliable cause or
warrant.

NINETEENTH AMENDMENTWOMEN'S SUFFRAGE

*Although the concept was introduced in the 1920s, the Senate passed the
Amendment in the 1970s.
Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the
United States or by any state on account of sex.
Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation,
the provisions of this article.
Section 3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.

This Amendment affects me because

without it, I wouldnt be able to get
the same high-paying, respectable
jobs as men.

WHICH AMENDMENT COULD

BE ELIMINATED?

Third Amendment- Right to Bear Arms

Although I think personal safety is important, I dont
believe that it should be a founding rule that people have
the right to bear an open arm. I believe that certain
people should be allowed to carry a gun, but not all. I
believe that Americans crime rate would reduce if
firearms werent as easy to obtain.

28TH AMENDMENT

If I could add an Amendment to the Constitution, I would

add the right to marry the same or opposite sex. Its
important to our country because many people picture
marriage with religion and that it should be a traditional
man and woman. The society we live in today is constantly
evolving, and we shouldnt put limits on our passions. Gay
marriage has finally become legalized but I think by adding
it to the Constitution, Americans will become more
accepting.
