I am writing this recommendation on behalf of Lindsay Sarich. I supervised Lindsay while she was a Recreation Therapy intern in our Child Life Department at Shriners Hospitals for ChildrenTwin Cities. The main criteria in which this recommendation was based are; ones level of maturity, an outstanding academic potential and the ability to apply practical knowledge in a correct and effective manner. These are all deemed essential to ones success in pursuing an advanced degree in care giving fields, and are evident within Lindsay s collective personality and knowledge base as addressed herein. The reference pools in which I make these comparisons are in relation to my personal education, the capabilities of past and present interns, and numerous volunteers, in addition to, the medical and nursing staff that constitute the hospital as a care-system. Lindsay is a skilled, knowledgeable, and dependable intern, and I am delighted to write this recommendation. There are many personal qualities which I could site, in recommending, that one would look for in selecting an individual for their program, e.g., dependability, ability to individualize patients, initiative, dedication, personal integrity, and commitment to the children at Shriners Hospital. Beyond what I expect of an intern and know to be necessary for quality service, the following are more developed in Lindsay than in other interns I have supervised. Lindsay has an ability to establish strong, healthy therapeutic relationships with patients of all ages and to work creatively and enthusiastically with them in recreational therapy. She clearly demonstrates a deep commitment to those she works with and has an interest in their wellbeing. Most of all, Lindsay is realistic about how and what individuals and families can change. She patiently motivates our patients, constantly urging them along with positive encouragement. I have found Lindsays abilities to think clearly about practice situations suitable to every task. She communicates in a clear, direct, and timely fashion. Lindsay works effectively with other professionals and makes use of their guidance to enhance her knowledge and skills. Lindsays deep commitment to the children and family-system she works with prompts me to offer my unwavering recommendation for your organization. I hold no reservation regarding Lindsays ability to fully succeed in her future endeavors and whole-heartedly urge her acceptance into your program. She will prove to be a valuable asset to both your program and the community in which you are based. Sincerely,
