Obsessed Girl - A 5
Year Project Complete!
February 23rd, 2016, after 5
years of brainstorming, growing,
learning, writing, re-writing, and
recovering from a massive harddrive crash, my first book was
finally released! I cant actually
say my first book though,
because in all fairness, I couldnt
have written it without the help
of some amazing people who
gave of their time, energy and
expertise to make this happen.
What was going to be a 10-page
paper for camp counselors
morphed into a 200+ page book
for desperate parents after I saw
a need that wasnt being met. I
like to do things uniquely in life,
and this project has been no
exception. This might be one of
the few books out there on
parenting, written by a nonparent, but God is a great
redeemer. He can use the
perspective of a former rebel at
heart to help confused moms
and dads understand their
daughters thinking. I believe
that with all of my heart.

A little bit about the book:

- It tackles the issues of Anorexia,
Bulimia and Compulsive eating
from a Biblical perspective. There
are solutions to these often
overwhelming problems, and they
are within the reach of Christian
parents.
- Its both practical and spiritual. I
believe the two have to walk
hand-in-hand. And so do girls who
struggle with Eating disorders.
EDs are a physical manifestation
of an emotional/spiritual issue.
That means both aspects need to
be thoroughly treated.
- It addresses the common
misconceptions that typical
parents face. Will their daughter
ever be normal again? Is she just
playing some sort of sick game,
or is she mentally ill? Can she just
stop, or is there more to it than
that? The list could go on.
If youre interested in getting a
copy of the book, you can
purchase it on Amazon, or
contact me directly to find out if I
have any discounted copies left.

Looking Ahead in
2016:
Its hard for me to believe that
were 2 months and counting
into what still feels like a brand
new year. This year, well elect
our next president, and face a
critical turning point in our
nations history - yet again. Its
easy to worry - at least for me. It
seems like the only Christian
candidates are sorely lagging in
the race while the bad guys
win. Im reminded at this time
that as a nation, we are not who
we used to be. If the Lord grants
us mercy in the upcoming
election, it will be completely
unmerited. Regardless of who
wins this earthly struggle for
power, God will still be on the
throne tomorrow as He is today.
Its important to build our lives
around this fact, and not get
carried away in the temporal
currents of the world around us.
While politics do matter, and we
should stand up for truth in our
nation, Jesus Christ is not
changing or going anywhere. Is
He our central focus, or are we
getting sidetracked?

Living Well in Ministry

Ministry can become an idol. It can consume us more than Jesus Christ. It
can distract us from our personal, love relationship with God to the point of
seeking Him only on behalf of other people. It can exhaust us, burn us out
and lead us into dangerous emotional waters where we find ourselves
suffering from joyless fatigue. It shouldnt be this way; Im learning that
slowly but surely.

Please pray for a young
woman named Claire who
recently left her family and
is making unwise choices.
Please pray for Gods
direction and provision
regarding prospective
ministry and educational
opportunities this year.
Praise the Lord for the

after 5 years of work!
Praise the Lord for a
successful Bible Study last
September - December.

Recently I read an excellent book on counseling that highlighted a few

helpful things for people in ministry. Since all of us who are reading this
profess to be Christians, each of us should be ministering day in and day out
- regardless of whether we consider ourselves part of the ministry
profession. As someone recently pointed out to me, Even mowing lawns
can turn into a discipleship opportunity. And he was completely right. Here
are a few helpful tips:
- Have a life outside of ministry. This means personal time with Jesus that is
not a crash class on how to mend someones mess. This means enjoying
Gods creation, and Gods provision of friends and family without dragging
the worlds problems into it. This means prayer that is centered around who
God is, not merely what other people are making of Him.
- Debrief with likeminded people. Ministry is really just love. Love is really just
laying down my life, my wants, my wishes, so that someone else can live.
Its sacrifice. Sacrifice is emotionally expensive. Its hard to give out
constantly. We need each other to be able to do this continually. Finding
likeminded people who are giving ministry the same, biblical priority, and
talking and praying with them is key.
- Boundaries! Again and again, I meet people in ministry who have no
boundaries. This is a sign that ministry has become an idol. Its okay to turn
your phone off at night. Its okay to let a phone call go. Its okay to say no
to an opportunity when youre already booked. Every book you read does
not need to be on a ministry-related topic. You do not need to be a crutch
for the same individual 7 times a week. Set healthy boundaries in order to
serve the Lord to your fullest capacity.
