Overall Rating:

Partially Proficient

Suggestions for Improvement:

Your lesson on pausing in sentences using

commas showed the students how important the
placement of commas is in a sentence. The use
of the informal assessment (worksheet) will
provide you with information about which
students will need extra help in the use of
commas in sentences. You will need to include
more information when you are journaling which
should include strategies, ideas, and tips you
would like to remember. Also, when reflecting on
the lessons you have taught be sure to include
what went well, and what changes you would
make if you were to teach it again.

Overall Rating:

Partially Proficient

Suggestions for Improvement:

Your lesson was planned, and you followed your

lesson plans. When presenting a lesson, try to
include as much previous information taught as
possible. You are finding what classroom
management strategies work for you, but
continue to incorporate/implement other
classroom management techniques you observe.
The students appeared to be engaged while
going over the worksheet together. You seemed
to be somewhat more confident/comfortable while
presenting the lesson. Strive to take any
opportunity to be in a classroom as much as
possible. It will enable you to observe what it
takes to be a good teacher.

Overall Rating:

Partially Proficient

Suggestions for Improvement:

Developing a rapport with the students is so

beneficial, and it appears that you were getting to
develop those connections with the students. You
were professionally dressed , and you had a loud
enough voice so it was heard by the students.
You demonstrated a calm and patient demeanor.
The transition from your lesson to Reading Daily
5 went smoothly. Proximity when presenting a
lesson to the whole class is important. Make sure
you are moving around the classroom which
helps to monitor behaviors as well as it enables
you to check to see that the students understand
your expectations for the lesson.

Do you believe this practicum student has the

knowledge, skills, and attitude required to
become an effective student teacher?

Yes

General Comments:

Brad, you have shown that your lessons are

planned. You have improved in your confidence
and comfort presenting a lesson. Strive to be
confident in your ability to be a teacher. Continue
to learn in your next Practicum experi and be in a
classroom setting as much as possible to enable
you to observe and enhance what works and
what doesn't work for teachers.
