ABSTRACT

The main purpose of this study was to examine the attitudes of the Kindergarten
to Grade IV teachers toward the Kto12 program in the Districts of Calatrava I and II,
Division of Negros Occidental. Specifically, this study sought to determine the attitude of
teachers towards the K to 12 program as to its budget, curriculum, instructional
materials/assessment, facilities/equipment, and training in terms of affective, behavioral,
and cognitive when taken as a whole and when grouped according to the selected
variables. Likewise, differences in the attitudes when grouped according to the selected
variables were determined. The participants of the study were the 338 public elementary
school teachers in the District of Calatrava I and II. To determine the attitudes of public
elementary school teachers towards the K to 12 program, the researcher developed and
subjected the research instrument for validity and reliability. Descriptive-survey method
of research was used by the researcher to address the different problems posed in this
study. Statistical analysis of the data which requires the use of the frequency and percent,
mean, t-test for independent means, one-way analysis of variance were used in this study.
Results show that the attitude of public elementary school teachers towards the K to 12
program was moderately positive when taken as a whole and in terms of affective,
behavioral and cognitive. Moreover, results indicate that significant differences existed in
the attitudes of teachers towards k to 12 when taken as a whole or when grouped
according to the selected variables and in terms of the three domains. Based from the

results, it was recommended that enough equipment should be provided as much as


possible, so that teachers will deliver instruction completely. Moreover, more training
regarding the K to 12 program should be provided to teachers so that they may engross
the essence of the K to 12 program.
