Help at Urban Farm on April 2

Come serve with us! On April 2 from 1-3pm, Missouri

UMC will send a team of folks to Columbias Urban Farm
to help prepare beds for planting, make soil blocks, seed
soil blocks, transplanting seedlings, harvesting and other
seasonal tasks. We need your help! Your prep work on
the farm will help to provide fresh produce to local food
banks for the coming year. We will be getting dirty so
everyone should dress accordingly with close toed shoes
and weather appropriate gear. Want to learn more
about the Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture? Visit
their website at http://w23.columbiaurbanag.org/
Want to volunteer on April 2nd? Contact Rev. Trista at
Trista@moumc.org Missouri UMC will also be the site for
the Centers Empty Bowl fundraiser on April 10.
You are invited to a community meal called Empty Bowls
on April 10 in the Missouri UMC Multi-Purpose Room! This
event is free and open to all of Columbia. Join in a simple
soup, bread and water meal at lunch or dinner to help
raise awareness of hunger in our community and support
the Columbia Center for Urban Agricutlures local food
philanthropy project, Planting for the Pantry. Donations
made to Planting for the Pantry ensure that fresh local food
from the Urban Farm is distributed to local food pantries,
as well as support CCUAs garden education programming.
Plus! Everyone who donates at Empty Bowls can take home
a hand-made bowl that was made and donated by students
at Lee and Paxton Keeley Elementary schools.
Stabat Mater

Music by two vastly different modern composers will make this concert very
moving. Arvo Prts, Stabat Mater, describes Mary as she looks upon her
crucified son. Prts powerful, unique music draws listeners on a journey of
inward reflection. Live tableaus add drama to Prts austere tintinnabuli
music. Ola Gjeilos Sunrise Mass is lyric, beautiful, and uplifting, and moves
listeners toward the hope of Easter. Live tableaus add drama to Prts austere
tintinnabuli music.
Orchestra players for this concert are members of the Salem-St. Louis
Chamber Orchestra. The SSLCO is a regular part of the traditional worship
service at Salem UMC in St. Louis, playing music of great composers from the
past and present.

Festival of Sharing

Because Palm Sunday and Easter are in March this year,

members of Gibson Circle will be in the Connector on the
Second Sunday, March 13, to collect monetary donations
for the March Festival of Sharing Kit. This kit, the Missouri
Personal Hygiene Pack, contains the following items: 1
fluoride toothpaste (6 oz or more), 1 bottle skin lotion
11-14 oz), 1 deodorant, 2 disposable razors, 1 toothbrush
in original package, 1 bottle shampoo 11-14 oz, 1 hand
towel, 1 bath size bar of soap in package, 1 washcloth, 1
comb or brush. Please tighten all lids and place all items
in a large ziplock bag (2 or 2.5 gallon). Cost of each kit is
valued at $20.
How are these used? Our agency operates a monthly
food pantry. We serve about 325 families each month
with many of them being senior citizens. For the past two
years, we have used the hygiene kits as extra gifts for
the home-bound individuals we serve. Often for many of
them, this kit is the only present they receive. It makes
a nice surprise at the holidays. These items can not be
bought with food stamp benefits (Festival of Sharing
Brochure). Thank you to the MUMC congregation for your
generosity in supporting the Festival of Sharing.

plus stunning hanging baskets in the usual assortment of
bright colors. Be sure to shop early while the selection
