The SiRRAN 4G LTE

solution utilizes the
latest mobile network
technology to bring
blisteringly fast data
rates to mobile devices,
enabling the creation
of a 4G mobile data
network anywhere.
SiRRANs entirely standardsbased LTE solution provides all
of the features and
functionality of the large
network equipment providers
in compact modular form. At
the simplest level, the software

Highest performance
With data speeds of up to ten times faster than
regular 3G, SiRRANs EPC scales to gigabit
throughput to enable the highest speed access to
information within the local network to be
streamed, pushed or pulled down to LTE devices.

Network flexibility
Eliminate the traditional problem of high capacity
backhaul and centralized core requirements by
bringing core network functionality to the
application and end customer. With a collapsed
network, integration to local data services whilst
having the option to maintain a link to mobile
operator services, drives down operational costs
and opens up new markets.

installs as a single lightweight

package requiring no
specialised configuration. It
lends itself to virtualisation,
single board computer and
laptop applications and even
scales up to large distributed
networks for mobile network
operators.
Each module of the SiRRAN EPC
is uniquely scalable allowing for
flexible deployment where
redundancy and capacity are
required; making SiRRAN the
credible choice for seamless
MNO and MVNO solutions.

Simplified interfaces and APIs

SiRRAN provides the most robust and easy to use
configuration interface for LTE on the market today.
With all parameters configurable through a welldesigned web interface, there is simply no need to
use command line. SiRRAN designed the web
interface to take away the pain of using complicated
commands and reference manuals needed by other
vendors systems. This powerful but easy to use
portal allows for simplified provisioning of users,
services, bandwidth allocation, priority service
levels, APN configurations, logging, reporting, and
system metrics, on an individual subscriber basis or
the entire network.

Core Elements
SiRRAN LTEnet provides a private LTE network that contains the core elements of an LTE
network; MME, SGW, HSS, PDN-GW; and an EPC-UI web management interface. LTEnet
supports the well-defined S1 over IP network interface for connection to eNodeBs.
MME (Mobility Management Entity)

SGi

The MME is the main control node for the LTE

(NAS) protocol, the MME is responsible for
generation and allocation of temporary identities to

procedure. The MME is the termination point in the

network for ciphering/integrity protection for NAS
signalling and handles the security key
management.

PGW (PDN Gateway)

The PDN Gateway provides a termination point for
tunnelled user data from a UE to an external IP
data network. A PDN gateway is typically

HSS (Home Subscriber Server)

The HSS is a central database that contains
subscriber account information. Functions of
the HSS include: mobility management, call and
session establishment support, user
authentication and access authorization.

responsible for allocating IP addresses to UE.

SGW (Serving Gateway)

The SGW is a data gateway for user data packets.
The SGW routes encapsulated IP data to a PDN
gateway to access an IP network. Responsibilities of
the SGW include setting up and removing bearer
routes on MME request, forwarding user data and
acting as an anchor for Intra E-UTRAN handover.
The SGW manages data resources by terminating
the downlink data path to idle UEs and triggering
paging procedures when downlink data arrives.

EPC-UI (Evolved Packet Core User

Interface)
The EPC-UI is a web based application which
gives the operator the ability to configure the
LTE sub-system parameters, view their statuses
and perform operations on each. The main
function of the EPC-UI is to provide provision
and management of subscribers and to
configure their access and priority profiles.
