WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A TRAIT IS

NON-MENDELIAN ?

Incomplete dominance are rule breakers, which means

they are non-mendelian traits.
They dont follow regular Mendelian rules, which says
that having a dominant allele means the dominant trait
will be expressed.
Snapdragon is a type of specific flower which is used in
the study of genetics that shows incomplete dominance.

In snapdragon genetics, there can be 3 phenotypes

Red, white or something in between-PINK.
Its called incomplete dominance
In incomplete dominance, the dominant allele is not
completely expressed whn the recessive allele is
around.
Neither allele is completely dominant over another and
instead the two being incompletely dominant, mixing
together.
If you cross a red flower (RR) and a white flower (rr), the
offsprings are produced with (Rr)

Sickle cell disease is the result of incomplete

dominance as those who have the disease carry 50%
normal and 50% abnomal hemoglobin.
When one parent carries normal hemoglobin and the
other with abnormal hemoglobin, the two will have a
baby with a disease known assickle cell disease.
