A

Heart
My Work. My Story
By: Ramee Kirkland

I was engaged at age 19 and married by age 20. November 28,

1997 Bound on earth,
Sealed in Heaven. Jared Kirkland
For as long as I can remember I had one goal and purpose in my
life, that was to be a wife and a mother. I had no idea the work and
total selflessness that these two roles in my life would require.
It is my hardest and greatest work.
By developing a mother heart, each girl and woman prepares
for her divine, eternal mission of motherhood. Julie B. Beck

Dalton McKinnon
Pregnancy was very hard on
my body. I was constantly sick
and gained weight by the
minute.
I worked full time as a money
manager for Mercantile Bank
while my husband attended
school. The last 4 weeks of
pregnancy I could not sit up
straight due to this babys
head being in the birth canal.
He was born at 38 weeks on
April 15, 1999 (with a very big
cone head), 9lb. 5oz. and 24
inches.
She teaches her
children to pray, and to

walk uprightly before the Lord (D&C 68:28).

Rather than listening to the voices and
partial truths of the world, she knows that
gospel standards are based on eternal,
unchangeable truths.

16 months after the birth of my son we were blessed to be

expecting baby #2. This pregnancy was also difficult on my
body. We were excited for our family to be growing and I was
elated to be having another little one to love and care for. The
first trimester passed and the tiny baby was developing in the
womb. At 13 weeks I started to bleed excessively. I prayed and
pleaded with my Heavenly Father to keep that tiny little body
safe. But that was not His plan. At 14.5 weeks I had to have a
DNC to remove the fetus. I felt that my body and my heart were
completely broken.
The ultimate treasures on earth and in
heaven are our children and our posterity.

By the time of Daltons 2nd
birthday we discovered that
we were expecting again! I
was scared to get too excited
because I did not know how
the pregnancy and the baby
would develop. Other than the
usual difficulty with sickness
and weight, everything
progressed as it should. Sweet
Ansleigh was born at 38 weeks
on November 14, 2001
weighing 9lb. 3oz.
and 21.5 inches.

Oh, that every girl and woman would

have a testimony of her potential for
eternal motherhood as she keeps her
earthly covenants. Each is a beloved
daughter of heavenly parents, and, as
such, each has a divine destiny

I was attending General Relief
Society meeting in 2004 when I
listened to Sister Julie B. Beck talk
about A Mother Heart. In that
meeting I felt a strong impression
that it was time for us to add to
our family. Finances would be
difficult. I was working part time.
My husband was working part time
and going to school full time. We
were doing the best we could to
build our eternal family. But we
knew we had more little spirits to
bring to earth.
On August 10, 2005 our angel
baby girl was born at 38 weeks
9 lbs. and 21.5 inches.

As we continued to faithfully
live our covenants we were
blessed spiritually and
temporally. My husband was
offered a full time job with
UPS. He graduated with his BS
in Psychology. We were able to
move into a bigger home right
by my parents who loved
being with the children.
On June 11, 2008 our little ball
of spunk, Adelyn, was born at
39 weeks. 8lb. 14oz and 21.5
inches.

Every girl and woman who makes and keeps

sacred covenants can have a mother heart.
There is no limit to what a woman with a
mother heart can accomplish. Julie B. Beck

July 21, 2008 our lives changed forever. I was the victim of a head on
auto collision. I had to be extracted from the vehicle that was totaled.
The result of the accident was knee surgery, wrist surgery, herniated
and ruptured spinal discs. My chest was completely black from the
bruising. I was unable to nurse or even hold
my newborn baby. I was unable to care for my other children. During
the constant trips to the doctor we discovered a brain tumor in my
pituitary gland that could potentially threaten my vision. Another
surgery was scheduled for March of 2009. Everyday life was a total
struggle for me. I had to completely change my idea of normal. The
expectations I had for myself as a mother and wife would never be
the same. Because I was not the mom and wife they had always
known, it was an extremely difficult time for my family. I was a
woman with chronic pain, diagnosed with chronic illness, suffering
with constant discouragement
and depression.

With all of the changes to
my physical and emotional
state I was sure we were
done having children. But
due to some direct
revelation which we
received after Adelyn
started asking for another
baby, we planned to have
one more. Aliza was born
on October 7, 2013
8lbs. 14 oz. and 21 inches.
Righteous women have changed the course
of history and will continue to do so, and
their influence will spread and grow
exponentially throughout the eternities.
Julie B. Beck

The Blessings that have stemmed from

this work as a mother and wife are
truly immeasurable. There are days
when I feel like a total failure. There
are days and moments when my heart
could literally burst with love for these
perfect little souls that Heavenly
Father has entrusted in our care. My
work is an eternal family.
She knows that the influence of
righteous, conscientious, persistent,
daily mothering is far more lasting, far
more powerful, far more influential
than any earthly position or institution
invented by man. Julie B. Beck

Because of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ

I know that families can be together forever!

Families can be together forever

Through Heavenly Father's plan.
I always want to be with my own family,
And the Lord has shown me how I can.
The Lord has shown me how I can.
Hymn #300
