MOOD AND AFFECT (Affect Observed And Mood Inquired)

The affect of the patient was observed as well as inquired.


A. Quality of Affect

The quality of objective affect for the patient was euthymic and indifferent
The quality of subjective affect for the patient was euthymic.
B. Range Of Affect (of emotional changes displayed overtime)

His range of affect was broad


C. Depth Or Intensity Of Affect

His depth or intensity of affect was of moderate intensity.


D. Appropriateness of Affect

His affect was appropriate to situation, congruous wit thought content, and
consistent with mood.
E. Stability Of Affect

His stability of affect was stable


F. Quality Of Mood

Overall, affect dysfunction (indifferent) was elicited for the patient.

Mood

The mood of the patient was inquired from him.


G. Stability Of Mood (over a period of time)

The quality of mood reported by the patient was euthymic, angry and indifferent.
Stability of his mood over a period of time reported by him was stable.
H. Reactivity Of Mood (variation in mood with stimuli)

Reactivity of his mood had high variation as reported by him.


I. Persistence Of Mood (length of time the mood lasts)

Persistence of his mood lasted for a moderate period as stated by him. Overall, mood
dysfunctions (angry), (indifferent) and (high variation in reactivity of mood) was
elicited for the patient.

The patients affect was anxious, appropriate, bland and blunted.


The patients mood was depressed and nearly despairing.

He describes his mood as euthymic.


Affect is full range and euthymic.

Mood: In the beginning her mood was not very pleasant. She was little bit distracted. Sometimes she
was emotional and sad. At times she was weeping.
Affect: The client was little bit anxious. When she shared some hurtful experiences she expressed
her emotions. There were variations in her facial expressions and in the tone of voice.
