Students will be able to brainstorm and discuss ways to be kinder and fairer.
Students will choose one of the brainstormed ideas and write it.
Students will be able to read a poem by repeating a sentence after the teacher reads it.
Students will be able to recognize a repeated phrase.

Thats right. We arent going to

are going to think of things that
we can do that would make Dr.

Bridges? What did Ruby Bridges
do?
Thats right, Ruby was very brave
and she helped make it possible

treat people fairly. I think they
would be a great gift for Dr. King.
We are going to trace each of our
hands, and then write two of the
ways that we can be kinder.
When you have finished writing
you can draw a picture of what
you will do on the square.

Students trace both hands and


write one way they can make Dr.
King happy for their gift.

Then students can glue their
hand onto the present and then
the teacher will glue the bow.
