AUTOMATICALLYbeconsideredforasummer2016financialaidawardpackagewiththeexceptionof
studentswantingtohaveSummerWorkStudy.
SummerWorkStudyisdifferentanditdoesrequirethecompletionofaUCCSsummerapplication,
whichisinyourstudentportalstartingApril1st.
Pleasereadthedetailsbelowforadditionalinformationabouteachsummerfinancialaidprogram
becauseeachaidtypemayhavedifferenteligibilityrequirements.
Summerapplicationsteps:
1. Enrollforsummer.SummerRegistrationbeginsApril6th
2. Youmustbeanadmitted,degreeseekingandanenrolledUCCSstudent.Youwillneedtofile
theappropriateforms,asdefinedbelowforeachprogram,tobeconsideredforsummer
financialaid.
3. YoumustmeetSatisfactoryAcademicProgress(SAP)requirements.
4. Yourfinancialaidapplicationfilemustbecompletewithallrequesteddocumentation,as
indicatedonyourToDoListinyourMyUCCSstudentportal,includinganofficialEFCfromyour
FAFSA,nolaterthanthelastdayofyoursummerenrollment.
5. FiletheFAFSAorRenewalFAFSAforthe20162017year(ifyouhavenotdonesoalready).
6. FinancialAidawardnotificationswillbesentviaemailtoyourUCCSemailaccountstartingthe
weekofMay16th.

SummerWorkStudy:
Fundingforthisprogramislimited.WorkStudywillbeawardedonafundsavailablebasiswithpriority
giventostudentswhoarecurrentlyworkingasaworkstudystudent.
YouarerequiredtocompletetheSummerApplicationtobeawardedsummerworkstudy.The
summerapplicationislocatedintheStudentCenterofyourmyUCCSportalstartingonApril1stand
willcloseonApril25th.
OnceyouclickontherecordsandregistrationlinkinyourmyUCCSportal,thenclickonAccessStudent
SelfServiceandtheninthefinancessection,clickontheSummerApplicationandsubmitthe
application.

SummeremploymentthroughtheWorkStudyProgrambeginsMay22,2016andcontinuesthroughthe
endofthesummerterm,whichisAugust13,2016.
Tobeconsideredforthisprogram,itisnecessarytocompletethefollowingsteps:
1. FiletheFAFSAorRenewalFAFSAfor20162017,(ifyouhavenotalreadyfiled)soitisreceived
bythefederalprocessornolaterthanMay1st.IndicateonyourFAFSAthatyouwouldliketobe
consideredforFederalWorkStudyfunds.
2. CompletetheSummerApplicationinyourstudentportal.
3. BeenrolledatUCCSforthefall2016term.
NotificationofsummerawardstostudentsbeginstheweekofMay16thandwillbeemailedtoyour
UCCSemailaccount.

SummerFederalPellGrant:
ThisprogramallowsaPelleligibleundergraduatestudentamaximumannualawardamountbasedon
thestudent'sexpectedfamilycontribution(EFC)andthestudent'screditload.Studentswhodidnot
attendfulltimeduringthefall2015and/orspring2016MAYhaveremainingFederalPellGrant
eligibilityandwillbeofferedasummerFederalPellGrant,ifeligible.YoumaynotreceiveFederalPell
Grantfundsfrommorethanoneschoolatatime.
Example:
StudentAiseligiblefora$4,000annualFederalPellGrant.Thescheduleddisbursementforafulltime
studentwouldbe$2,000inthefalland$2,000inthespring.StudentAenrolledfor6creditseach
semesterandreceivedatotalof$2,000inFederalPellGrantinthefallandspring.
StudentAenrollsfulltimeinthesummerandwouldbeawardeda$2,000summerFederalPellGrant.

SummerFederalDirectLoan(SubsidizedandUnsubsidized)
IfyouareeligibleforaSummerDirectLoan:
1. Youwillreceiveasummerfinancialaidawardnotification.SignintomyUCCSportaltoaccept,
reduceordeclineyourloan(s).
2. Enrollinatleast6credithoursforundergraduatestudentsand3credithoursforgraduate
students.
Ifyouareafirsttimeborrower,youwillneedtocompleteDirectLoanentrancecounselingandMaster
PromissoryNote(MPN)atwww.studentloans.govbeforeyourloancanbedisbursed.
Duetothefederallymandatedmaximumannualloanlimits,studentsborrowingthroughtheFederal
DirectLoanProgramduringthesummertermarelimitedtotheirremainingannualloaneligibility.
Studentsmayhaveremainingloaneligibilitywhentheydonotborrowtheirfullloanamountofferedor
havechangedgradelevelsandhaveanewloanlimit.

Example:
StudentAiseligibleforacombinedannualtotalof$5,500fromtheFederalDirectLoanProgram.The
scheduleddisbursementforthisloanwouldbe$2,750inthefalland$2,750inthespring.StudentA
borrowed$4,000throughtheFederalDirectLoanProgramforfallandspring.
StudentAenrollsfor6creditsinthesummerandwouldbeoffered$1,500throughaFederalDirect
Loan.

GraduatestudentswhohaveutilizedtheirannualFederalDirectLoanlimitmayapplyfortheGradPLUS
ifenrolledatleasthalftime(3credits).
ToapplyforaFederalDirectPLUSLoan,pleasegotowww.studentloans.govtocompleteaPLUS
applicationandMasterPromissoryNote.OncethePLUShasbeenapproved,yourloanawardwillbe
