QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH
Quantitative Research is used to quantify the problem by way
of generating numerical data or data than cannot be
transformed into useable statistics. It is used to quantify
attitudes, opinions, behaviours and other defined variables
and generalize results from a larger sample of people.
Quantitative research uses measurable data to formulate facts
and uncover patterns on research. Examples of Quantitative
research is online surveys, paper surveys, mobile surveys and
kiosk surveys, face to face interviews, telephone interviews and
online polls.
Pros
Efficient at collecting data
You will gain numerically precise answers
Cons
Limited ability to probe answers
Example of quantitative research

QUALITATIVE RESEARCH
Qualitative research is primarily exploratory research. It is used
to gain an understanding of underlying reasons, opinions, and
motivations. It provides insights into the problem or helps to
develop ideas for potential quantitative research. It is also used
to uncover trends in thought and opinions and dive deeper into
the problem. Qualitative data collection methods vary using unstructured or semi structured techniques. Examples of
Qualitative research are focus groups and individual interviews.
Pros
Open ended
Dynamic
Flexible
Cons

Responses are not measured

They are not statistically representative

SECONDARY RESEARCH
Secondary research is the process of collecting data from either
the originator or a distributor or primary research. In most
cases this means finding information from third party sources
such as marketing research reports, company websites,
magazine articles and other sources. But in actuality any
information previously gathered, whether from external sources
or from internal sources, such as accessing material from
previous market research carried out by marketers
organization, old sales reports, accounting records and many
others, falls under heading of secondary research.
This is important in the music industry because it helps
producers know what is popular and current at the moment and
also helps to get reliable statistics.

PRIMARY RSEARCH
Primary research is research collected directly from the
research/area by the researcher. It usually involves the
researcher going into the market place to find the information
they are looking for. If the researcher does not go into the field
they may send or place something into filed to record
information for them. Examples of primary research are
interviews, observations and surveys.
This is helpful in the music industry because through interviews
it allows you to gain a more emotional and opinionated
response instead of it just being numerical.

DATA GATHERING AGENICES - RAJA

RAJA us responsible for setting the research specification, the
awarding of the research contracts to third party suppliers and
the overall quality control, management and delivery of the
service. The day to day operations are overseen by chief
executive and research director.

SELF GENERATED RESEARCH

Self Generated is the personal recording of any
experiences or occurrences relevant to the investigation being
carried out. Methods can include music videos and photographs
documenting the scene and recordings.
This could prove to be useful when drawing comparisons
between work and anothers for example to see what the best
approach a new music video would be, a band could create
their film, which drew inspiration from an older piece, before
showing it to both sets of fans to gain a reaction.

AUDIENCE RESEARCH
Audience research is defined as any communication research
that is conducted on specific audience segments to gather
information about their attitudes, knowledge, interests
preferences or behaviours with respect to prevention issues.
Segments may be based on various grouping strategies, such
as race and ethnicity, age education, or family income.
The point of Audience research is that the producer can have a
better insight of the target audience, it would be pointless
creating something thats not going to appeal to the right
people. This is key when it comes to music videos because the
producer needs to know what people are into at the time to
make a successful music video

MARKET RESEARCH
Market research is the process of collection valuable
information to help you find out if there is a market for your
proposed product or service. The information gathered from
market research helps budding entrepreneurs make wise and
profitable business decisions. The key to any successful
business is to understand what it is that customers want and
giving this to them in a way that is profitable for you.
Market research is important in music videos because the
producer needs to know what it is competing against and how
they can improve their video.
Here is an example of mu won market research

I did this research so I could see what Sinatras rivals videos were like so it would give me inspiration
on how I should produce mine.

PRODUCTION RESEARCH
Production research is essential is essential when planning to
develop a new game idea. Production research helps to provide
content, research helps to provide content research commercial
viability and plan the post production process. To perform
production research the developer or producer will employ
trained researchers to gather the suitable information for the
area they are looking for example financial or locations.
Productions research also includes advertising and where it
might be placed to gain information on income and outgoing
costs.
This is important for music videos because the producer needs
to know the costs of the production and how they are going to
go about filming the actual video. For example when a music
video starts production they need to know where they are
filming and what they are filming.

This a location recce of where I

filmed my music video. This is a
good example because it showed
the area of where I filmed my music
video.
