ital dungeon keeper along with blizzard , westwood and bullfrog or oher games of
the 90's and the next decade tha use ipx/spx are a trouble getting to work.
well there is a way tested with windows 8 windows 7 and it ll propably work on eve
ry other platform .
Let me explain how it works .
We are going to need dosbox so go here http://www.dosbox.com/download.php?main=1
and get it .
Install and
step 1 is getting ipx support for dosbox.
You can find the configuration file of dosbox in here
C:\Users\**username**\AppData\Local\DOSBox
the file name is dosbox-0.74.conf
So open it and add just before the end and above the autoexec section
ipx=true

Step 2 is getting a working installation of the game . eg Theme Hospital . I wil
l expaing with the gog version.
Install it or move it to an easy location eg C:\games\theme
remember to keep the 8 character length for each directory name
open dosbox
type
mount c c:\games\theme
this make a virtual drive c:\ in dosbox with the contents of the folder of your
hard drive and the directory games\theme
now on step 3 ipx
The pc acting as server will need to start the ipx tunnel with the followin comm
and
ipxnet startserver 1200
1200 is the port number choose whatever you want
if you are going to play via internet choose something you can forward from your
router (even use the same as another program you already have port forwarding r
eady)
One very important thing to know is that you have to let windows firewall or you
r own firewall permit the application the port use. So when windows prompts or w
hen your firewall promts let it communicate.
You must run this command on both client and server once to activate the firew
all opening the port for the application.

Now the pc action as client

Use this syntax
ipxnet connect server.ip.here port.here
example
ipxnet connect 192.168.1.2 1200
you should get verification that the tunnel is ok

Get in the game
open the multiplayer and game on !!

re you use the same version of the game ;)
