COURSE: EDUC 389

DAY: 9/10/14
CAMPUS: La Verne

GRADE: 2
SUBJECT: Math

LESSON TITLE:
Let's Roll
LENGTH OF LESSON:
Daily Morning Activity

CONTENT STANDARDS AND CONTENT OBJECTIVES

SUBJECT STANDARD:
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.NBT.B.5: Number &
Operations in Base Ten. Use place value
understanding and properties of operations to add
and subtract.
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.NBT.A.3: Number &
Operations in Base Ten. Understand place value.
MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE ADDRESSED:
Logical-Mathematical Intelligence (Math Smart)

GOAL OF UNIT:
Students will be able to add or subtract the numbers they
have rolled on the dice and understand each numbers
place value.
OBJECTIVE OF LESSON:
Given a set of number cubes (dice) students will be able
to distinguish the number, place value, and properties of
operation when adding or subtracting the numbers
they've rolled. Students will then have the opportunity to
showcase their skills at the whiteboard.

ASSESSMENT
STRATEGY FOR ASSESSMENT
Students will fill out worksheets that I have given them where they must indicate the place value, along with making
an equation with the numbers they have rolled.
Students will demonstrate their skills on the white board with numbers that I have rolled.
LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
STRATEGIES TO MEET DIVERSIFIED LEARNERS
Students will be working in pairs where opportunities for understanding will be presented. This will hopefully lead
to conversation where students are able to gain knowledge from their partner on areas that may have been unclear for
them. During this discussion time I will treat errors as learning opportunities so that students who are having trouble
with this lesson feel less discouraged with future attempts.
