SANCTIFICATION

NECESSARY CONSIDERATIONS:
The work of the church is
EVANGELISM! But, often today,
Evangelism is NOT being done!
People have forgotten that MAN IS
LOST WITHOUT CHRIST!
Today, SANCTIFICATION is also
NOT considered. People do NOT
know what it is!

SANCTIFICATION
The word, sanctification means
set aside, dedicated. It also
means HOLY!
NOTE;
You shall be holy, for I am holy
(I Peter 1:15, 16)
The church cannot be RIGHT until
we get our THEOLOGY RIGHT!

CONSIDER that SALVATION is

PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE
PAST: We were saved when we
obeyed the gospel! This is
FORGIVENESS (Acts 2:38, etc.)
PRESENT: We are being saved
as we walk in the light! This is
SANCTIFICATION! (I Cor. 1:18)
FUTURE: Heaven! This is
GLORIFICATION! (Romans 13:11)

SALVATION from past sins comes

in a MOMENT!
SANCTIFICATION takes a lifetime!
Do NOT confuse Forgiveness,
Sanctification, and Glorification
Salvation is NOT just a moment of
Forgiveness followed by an
INACTIVE LIFE!

FAITH, NOT PERFECTION!

Once saved, always saved is
NOT Biblical (Galatians 5:4, etc.)
Once saved, never saved is also
WRONG! Christians have an
assurance (I John 5:11-13)
I cannot be perfect. Therefore, I
must be saved by faith! God
wants FAITHFULNESS!

Even saints who walk in the

light commit SIN! (I John 1:7-10)
We walk by faith, NOT
PERFECTION! (I Corinthians 5:7)
The BLOOD of the Lord BOTH
SAVES and SANCTIFIES US!
(Hebrews 10:29)

How much worse punishment, do

you think, will be deserved by the
one who has spurned the Son of
God, and has profaned the

blood of the covenant by

which he was sanctified, and
has outraged the Spirit of grace?
(Hebrews 10:29)

The church at Corinth had MANY

PROBLEMS! Yet, they had been
WASHED, SANCTIFIED, and
JUSTIFIED
And such were some of you. But
you were washed, you were
sanctified, you were justified in
the name of the Lord Jesus Christ
and by the Spirit of our God.
(I Corinthians 6:11)

HOW ARE WE SANCTIFIED?

Truth sanctifies! (John 17:17)
Prayer sanctifies (I Timothy 4:5)
The Holy Spirit sanctifies
(Romans 15:16; I Peter 1:2)
Christ sanctifies (I Cor. 1:30)
God sanctifies (I Thess. 5:23)

FAITH sanctifies (Acts 26:18)

.to open their eyes, so that they
may turn from darkness to light
and from the power of Satan to
God, that they may receive
forgiveness of sins and a place
among those who are
sanctified by faith in me.
(Acts 26:18)

NOTE:
Saints must live in repentance!
They are NOT perfect angels!
SANCTIFICATION IS A LIFE

DISCIPLESHIP!

OF

SANCTIFICATION IS
DISCIPLESHIP!
We must have the MIND of
Christ! (Philippians 2:5-11)
We must buffet our bodies
(I Corinthians 9:24-27)
We must PUT OFF THE OLD
MAN, and PUT ON THE NEW
MAN (Colossians 3:1-17)

to put off your old self, which

belongs to your former manner of
life and is corrupt through deceitful
desires, and to be renewed in the
spirit of your minds,
and to put on the new self,
created after the likeness of God in
true righteousness and holiness.
(Ephesians 4:22-24)

WE GROW IN GRACE AND

KNOWLEDGE (II Peter 3:18)
Jesus must be FORMED in us
(Galatians 4:19)
All of our THOUGHTS must be
CAPTIVE to Him (II Cor. 10:5)
We stimulate EACH OTHER to
LOVE and GOOD DEEDS!
(Hebrews 10:24)

We take up OUR OWN CROSS

DAILY, and follow Him!
And he said to all, "If anyone
would come after me, let him

deny himself and take up his

cross daily and follow me.
(Luke 9:23)

PREACHING THE CROSS

(I Corinthians 1:17-25; 2:1, 2 etc.)
PREACHING is from GOD! The
heart of the Great Commission is
PREACHING! (Mark 16:15)
The beginning of the CHURCH
came through preaching (Acts 2)

For "everyone who calls on the

name of the Lord will be saved."
How then will they call on him in
whom they have not believed? And
how are they to believe in him of
whom they have never heard? And

how are they to hear without

someone preaching?
(Romans 10:13, 14)

When PREACHING IS STOPPED,

CONVERSION STOPS ALSO!
Our attitude in our assembly
should be, IS THERE A MESSAGE
FROM THE LORD?
Jesus had the original School of
Preaching! He turned apostles
into PREACHERS!

REAL PREACHING
John the Baptist touched many by
preaching REPENTANCE!
(Matthew 3:1, 2; Luke 3:7-14)
John identified and MAGNIFIED
JESUS! (John 1:29; 3:27-30)
Real Preaching permits people to
hear the voice of God! The
preacher is NOT IMPORTANT!

SEE WHAT PAULS PREACHING

HAD BEEN
Serving the Lord with humility and
tears (Acts 20:19)
Teaching publicly and from house
to house (20:20)
Testifying solemnly of the gospel
of the grace of God (20:24)

Paul was innocent of the blood

of all men (Acts 20:26)
Paul had declared the whole
counsel or purpose of God
(Acts 20:27)

CAN WE SAY THAT OUR

PREACHING IS LIKE PAULS?

Paul was a REAL PREACHER!

Are OUR SERMONS really
CHALLENGING ADULTS, or are
they stories for CHILDREN?
God placed a beautiful treasure
in clay pots, preachers like Paul!
(II Corinthians 4:7)
NOTE; Pauls attitude about
preaching the gospel!

For if I preach the gospel,

that gives me no ground for
boasting. For necessity is
laid upon me. Woe to me if
I do not preach the gospel!
(I Corinthians 9:16)

This OLD PRAYER is so TRUE:

May the preacher hide himself
behind the cross.
TRUE PREACHING has a
tremendous FORCE behind it

The love of Christ controls

us
(II Corinthians 5:14)

God SAVES THE WORLD only

through the PREACHED
MESSAGE OF CHRIST!
For since, in the wisdom of God,
the world did not know God
through wisdom, it pleased God
through the folly of what we

preach to save those who

believe.
(I Corinthians 1:21)

The GOSPEL is the DEATH of

Jesus for our sins, His BURIAL,
and His RESURRECTION
(I Corinthians 15:1-4)
Tell people WHAT GOD DID,

BEFORE you tell them WHAT

THEY SHOULD DO!
We may teach many Bible verses
without teaching the GOSPEL!

People MUST OBEY THE

GOSPEL! (II Thessalonians 1:7-9)
There MUST NOT BE ANOTHER
GOSPEL! (Galatians 1:6-9)
The MOST MAGNETIC POWER to
DRAW PEOPLE is the CROSS!
And I, when I am lifted up from the
earth, will draw all people to
myself. (John 12:32)

NOTE:
Pauls ONLY TOPIC was CHRIST
AND HIM CRUCIFIED!
(I Corinthians 2:1, 2)
The heart and soul of apostolic
preaching was the CROSS!
If we put the CROSS FIRST IN
OUR PREACHING, WE CAN
CHANGE OUR NATION!

THE SIN

ISSUE

SIN IS THE BAD NEWS! THE

GOSPEL IS THE GOOD NEWS!
The SOUL THAT SINS WILL DIE!
(Ezekiel 18:4, 20)
People are offended by the
preaching of the GOSPEL! We
must EXPECT THAT!

Paul spoke about the OFFENSE,

or stumbling block of the
GOSPEL (Galatians 5:11)
Many people just want to ESCAPE
HELL without a restored
relationship with God!
It is TRUE that MAN DOES NOT
WANT TO BE TOLD THAT
SOMETHING IS WRONG IN HIS
LIFE!

WHAT CAUSES A SINNER

TRULY TO REPENT?

THE CROSS!
The CROSS is the only
power strong enough to
cause people to DIE TO
SELF!

SALVATION comes only through

the LAMB of God! (John 1:29)
IS IT NOT TRUE THAT THE
GOSPEL ONLY SOUNDS
GOOD to BAD, LOST, SINFUL
PEOPLE?
It DOES NOT sound good to the
SELF-RIGHTEOUS, the
ARROGANT!

We must bring back an

understanding of SIN by our
preaching
A COUPLE OF DO NOTS
Do not equate being positive with
preaching truth! We must also
point out what is WRONG!
Do not permit our desire for people
to obey the gospel to cause us to
COMPROMISE TRUTH!

PASSION
The GOSPEL can only be
preached with a sense of
URGENCY!
And, with a voice of
AUTHORITY!
Declare these things; exhort and
rebuke with all authority. Let no
one disregard you. (Titus 2:15)

Preaching with passion demands

a verdict (a decision!)
CONSIDER:
The only things JESUS HANDS
OUT ARE CROSSES!
(Luke 9:23, 24)

CHRISTIANITY must be
AGGRESSIVE and EVANGELISTIC
It must OPPOSE and REFUTE
FALSE RELIGION!
There MUST BE NO
COMPROMISES!
There MUST BE NO TREATIES
WITH EVIL!
