Beacons

Integration of HalfFull app with a beacon device can enable a customer to

collect and redeem points on the purchases without any verification as long
as they have an account over the app.
Requires a software development kit and an application developer.
Can also be used for push notifications and payments as soon as a consumer
gets into the range of a beacon.

Daily Deals - Groupon

OYSTER BAY BREWING COMPANY | LONG ISLAND - INTERVIEW WITH OWNER Gabe Haim

14

Many merchants have brought up that using groupon ends up costing them financially in
regards to the deals they offer meaning you don't really make money off the groupons that
you offer - what's your experience been like? Groupon has been great for us. It has
brought our company in front of many people who did not know about us.
How many offers have you had with groupon in the past? This was our first experience
with Groupon.
Have you found a significant amount of customers coming in that purchased the tasting for
two or the tasting for four? We have sold 2300+ groupons, 600+ have redeemed so far.
With those groupon customers have they turned out to be loyal customers? Many people
have returned after purchasing the groupon.
When working with groupon did you find the experience easy or difficult? The experience
has been very easy and seemless.

Daily Deals - Groupon

OYSTER BAY BREWING COMPANY | LONG ISLAND - INTERVIEW WITH OWNER Gabe Haim

Have you ever considered stopping your services with Groupon for any reason? We will
continue our groupon offer through the winter as it helps keep our tasting room busy
during a slow season.
What's your ultimate goal with using groupon? And are you meeting that goal? Our goal is
to get people down to Oyster Bay that normally wouldn't travel to us. We are meeting
that goal, definitely.
Have you used any other daily deal sites like Living Social, Amazon Local, Sweetjack?
We just signed up with Amazon Local, we start on Dec 9.
Any other information you could offer about the benefits of a business using groupon? We
track our sales with Groupon. Our offer covers our cost, so customers come in and if
they purchase nothibg extra, we break even, and someone came in to see us. The
average customer for us spends $30 while at the brewery...so that is positive for us.

Daily Deals - Living Social

THIMBLE ISLAND BREWING COMPANY | BRANFORD CT

16

CHARLES L. YELP
Stopped by on a trip from NY. We hadn't heard about this brewery until browsing deals on
living social in the area of where we went Apple picking.
Everyone there was extremely friendly from the moment we walked in and were happy to answer
various questions.
We were able to try their American ale (made sure to buy a growler of this!) , coffee stout (also
delicious), and the ipa (pretty good but the others stood out much more) .
From what I understand the samples are free even without the living social deal but we got 4 glasses
which was a nice "souvenir" . They gladly kept offering to refill our tastings too.
They also offered us a taste of their upcoming pumpkin beer which wasn't carbonated at the time (I
believe I saw a Fb post saying it's open for growler fills now) and even still it was likely one of the
better I've tried and smelt just as tasty, wish I could try the finished product.
Eventually it got pretty busy so we bought a growler and went on our way, hopefully be back soon.

Energy Efficiency Grants

Case Study - Wisconsin These five craft brewers have obtained $20,000 grants (each) for the the following:

SHEEPS BREWING COMPANY

VALKYRIE BREWING COMPANY

Installation of glycol-jacketed fermenters to

make operations more efficient. The glycoljacketed conical fermenters will be used to chill
their product. These fermenters can be removed
from the cooler which allows the cooler space to
be used for packaged goods.

Fossil fuel energy-reduction plan. This plan will

replace most of their current use of fossil fuels with
vegetable oil from locally grown seed, waste vegetable
oil from local restaurants, and waste oil from local auto
mechanic garages. These oils will be used to fuel a
boiler to heat water that is used during the brewing
process and will also heat part of the brewery.

MILWAUKEE BREWING COMPANY

Installation of a solar hot water system.

LAKEFRONT BREWERY
Boiler system upgrades.

RED EYE BREWING COMPANY

Install a 9 kilowatt solar photovoltaic
(solar panels) system. This will produce 11,000
kilowatt-hours annually and about 4 percent of
the current electricity needs of the facility.
