About

Established in 2001, 21st Century Cyber Charter School serves Pennsylvania students in
grades 6 through 12. 21CCCS features the best academic track record of any cyber
charter school in the state, including average 2014 SAT scores in the top 10% of all
Pennsylvania public schools. 21CCCS provides students with a flexible, individualized
learning environment catered to meet specific student needs. 21st Centurys
asynchronous learning environment provides students with 24/7 course access, and a 56hour per week window where they can work one on one with PA certified, highly
qualified teachers ( 21st Century Cyber Charter School, 2016).

Mission Statement

The 21st Century Cyber Charter School mission is to provide students, for whom an
asynchronous environment is an appropriate educational setting, with an individualized
learning program utilizing the latest information and communications technology. The
basis for all learning plans is to maximize student achievement of the Pennsylvania
Academic Standards while developing higher order thinking and complex problemsolving skills.

Structure

In 1999 the Intermediate Units of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties
saw the need for a cyber school to serve their students, but they wanted to ensure that the

school offered a high quality education. These IUs and their 64 member school districts
formed our school in 2001. The four IU executive directors, along with two school
district superintendents from each county and several parents, serve as our charter school
board. The board has a tremendous amount of experience in education, and its members
take an active role in guiding our school (21st Century Cyber Charter School, 2016).
Regulatory Environment

The 21st Century Cyber Charter School outlines rules, procedures and other regulations
in student and parent handbook (see PDF below). The school has a strict academic
integrity policy that prohibits plagiarism, fabrication, impersonation and bribery (21st
Century Cyber Charter School, 2016).

Courses Offered

Teachers develop and update the curriculum based upon the Pennsylvania Core Standards
and teach the core subject classes and most electives. All of the courses are designed to
help prepare students for the next phase of their lives, whether that means continuing
their education or joining the workforce. The teachers, learning coaches, and guidance
department work together to ensure a student meets the necessary graduation
requirements (21st Century Charter Cyber School, 2016).

Student Body

Since the start of 21stCCCS, they have implemented a steady growth model, making sure
to have the resources and staff available to meet the needs of each student. Today, they
have over 800 children enrolled as full-time students. 21st Century Cyber Charter School

looks forward to continuing growing, offering open enrollment periods to students in

grades six through twelve throughout the school year.
