Lesson 2
Introduction:

Students will form pairs for this lesson.

Students seated at a computer will go to the WebQuest page: michaelanabelrecycling.weebly.com


and click on the Lesson 2 tab.

Students will read the opening quote from Cy, the student objectives and what will be required of
them in the lesson.

Teacher will facilitate to allocation of an iPad between each pair.


Body:

Step 1: Using the iPad, scan the QR code from the WebQuest Weebly and download the
RecycleRight App. Open the app, set it to City of Fremantle and have a quick look around to
familiarise with the app.
Step 2: Using the instructions, search, download and save images from Brittania Image Quest of
the 20 household waste items listed.
Step 3: Using the RecycleRight app, determine which of the 20 items can be placed in the yellowtopped recycling bin, which can be placed in the green-topped general waste bin and which
shouldnt go in either.
Step 4: Open up a new Popplet (www.popplet.com). Using the images saved in step 2, create a
mind map that can be used at home or at school to help with recycling.
Step 5: Embed the Popplet into the class Titan-Pad.
Step 6: Scan the second QR code to download the Lunchtime Legends app. Have a go at using the
knowledge of what goes into each bin to play the game.

Key Questions:

Are you recycling at home?

What simple things can you think of that you can do to help recycle at home or school?
Lesser ability students: Work with stronger students when in pairs.
Extension students: What do you do with the waste that cant be put in either bin?
Conclusion:

Close WebQuest and log-off computer.


Close iPad and return to charging station
Sit quietly at desk and wait for next lesson to begin.
