A Celebration in Honor of Youth Violence Prevention Week

Art Against Violence


Art Against Violence is a citywide art show and contest sponsored by the
University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Centers Violence
Prevention Program. Through art, we hope to be inspirational in Baltimore City in
reducing hostile and risk taking behaviors that lead to violent and traumatic injury.
We will be accepting submissions of visual art pieces through April 1st for our
gallery show and award ceremony on April 6th, 2016. The gallery show will open
at 4 pm and our awards ceremony will be at 6:30 pm with light refreshments.

The Artwork

Submissions will be accepted from any enrolled student at any Baltimore City
School
Any medium of visual art is acceptable
The theme of the event is Art Against Violence but any artwork inspired by
this theme is acceptable
Members of the Violence Prevention Program are available to pick up submitted work or give a brief presentation to students interested in participating
Winners will be decided by popular vote
