WINE LIST

This list is both a sentimental look at a few of my favorite

things, reflecting my first Discovery Corps in Oregon of
many new creatures, from field blends to several stunning
rare wines and an ever growing gathering of local
vignerons. Cheers! -- Chef Chris

Sparkling Wine
Naveran, Cava, 2014 (Peneds) $9/$28
From a 100+ yr old estate run by the Parellada family, this
is a rare vintage Cava fermented on the lees for 18 months,
and it has the 3 classic Cava grapes plus 20% heft of
Chardonnay.
Terres Dores, "FRV 100" Sparkling Gamay (Beaujolais)
$10/$35
Jean-Paul Brun makes some of my favorite, most fun wines
from his outpost in Beaujolais. Words cannot express my
delight in this playful sparkler!

Ros Wines
Whoa Nelly! "Ropin' Ros," Ros of Pinot Noir, 2014
(Oregon) $9/$30
Anne Hubatch just rocks, and this rip-roarin' rodeo ready
Ros might look like blood orange juice but it drinks like a
champ with notes of rosehips, hyacinth, and rooibos tea-all infused with good vibes!
Viola Wines, "Fig, Vol. II" Ramato Pinot Grigio 2014
(Columbia Gorge) $11/$30
This is a shape shifter, made with enough skin contact to
create a buzzing sensation and the smell of burly tannins,
but with a year's time in the bottle the silk emerges....

White Wines
Frederic Giachino, "Abymes Monfarina," Jacquere 2011
(Savoie) $7/$23
Organic, and nicknamed the "Mountain Muscadet" for its
long aging on the lees yet crisp alpine character. Savory,
waxy, big-boned, delicious.
Lon Boesch, Edelzwicker, Field Blend, 2014 (Alsace) (1
Liter) $8/29
This regal style of Alsatian white wines blend 6 varieties
into a concerto of flavors. Plus, did we mention it comes in
a liter? Oh yes....
Tenuta del Priore, "Campotino" Passerina 2014 (Abruzzo)
$7/23
One of my favorite obscure Italian white wines, opulent
with jasmine blossoms on the nose, pears and apricots in
the flesh, and an oceanic breeze at the finish.

Love & Squalor, "Wings of Desire," Field Blend 2013

(Oregon) $11/$33
Picked on a single day from a 1971 vineyard teeming with
with a motley assortment of grapes, some well known and
some very obscure. Complex, puzzling yet wonderful,
pulsing with mysterious intent.
Pravis, "Le Frate," Nosiola 2014 (Trentino) $9/28
Dominic Pedrini works with his farmers in the remote
terraced mountain vineyards at the Italian /Swiss border
far above Lake Garda, and this Nosiola is their pride & joy.
Think hazelnuts, wild apple trees in blossom, hiking in the
mountains. Then drink it in!
Anne Amie, "Amrita," Field Blend, 2015 (Oregon) $8/$28
This version of ambrosia is slightly effervescent and brings
a multiplicity of tastes from 6 grapes, all estate grown.
Barely off-dry, voluptuous & silky.

Red Wines
Pckl, Zweigelt, 2011 (Mnchhof, Burgenland) $9/$28
Zweigelt is literally a love child of a grape, created in 1922
by Dr. Friedrich Zweigelt. 2011 featured a warm Spring
followed by a luxuriant hangtime harvest, so initially the
wines were huge & unruly. Now this love child is singing...
Tenuta Sant Antonio, "Scaia" Corvina 2013 (Veneto)
$8/$25
I wish you knew Mike Procido, a wine salesman in New
Orleans who first turned me on to this little juicy jewel. As
the principal grape in Valpolicella and Amarone, it's fun to
take this for a spin solo. It may or may not have you singing
jazz like Mike used to do....
Airlie, Marchal Foch (Oregon) $9/$28
A rare sighting of this hybrid brings plums and chocolate in
a velvety richness. Oregon weird and Oregon proud, and a
delicious discovery shrouded in mystery, despite knowing
Foch was first developed in Alsace by Eugene Kuhlmann,
facts on this grape are as elusive as a yeti.
Guerra de Armas, Mencia $8/$25 (Galicia) $8/$28
A more delicate interpretation of this deep purple grape;
violets and black fruits reign.
Grand Reconsind, Crianza, 2009 (Catalunya) $9/$30
Definitely one of the weird & wonderful wines, this 2009 is
the current release due to the peculiar aging regimen of 3
years in concrete, then two years in barrique before
releasing into the wild.

BOTTLE LIST
Sparkling
La Collina, "Lunaris Secco" Malvasia $30
Gorgeous, biodynamic, full-bodied white sparkling wine from a noted
young Lambrusco vigneron. Seductive, whale-bone dry, pecans and
peaches, so pretty. $30

Ampeleia, "Unilitro" (Maremma) (1 Liter) $28

Elizabeth Foradori's side project is a wild little field blend of atypical
grapes from Tuscany's coastal vineyards: Grenache, Carignan, and
Alicante Bouschet lead the parade, and did we mention it comes in a
liter....

Roger Constant Lemaire, "Cuve Select Reserve" Pinot Meunier $59

Begun by a poet post World War II, this rare expression of old vines and
100% Pinot Meunier is kept lively by never allowing malo, and is a huge
value from a small family-run estate. $59

Forlorn Hope, "Kerrigan" Carignan (California) $44

The farmer who grows these 70+ yr old Carignan never got the hang of
saying the grape with its French pronunciation. Thus, Kerrigan. No Tanya
Harding jokes apply to the dark gods behind this wine.

A merry blend of Rhone varietals, some of which were skin fermented for
6 days, is hazy yet crisp as a Spring day; fragrant, bewitching, irresistible.

Two ancient grapes of Trentino, Rossola and Pignola, combine to make a
haunting wine that is simply unforgettable, from high in the Alps.

A playful technique driven Pinot Noir that captures the lingering earthiness
of Pinot Noir with unexpected frisky blackberry notes that make this an
instant party wine!

Ciders

Viola, "Bianco Allegre," Field Blend (Columbia Gorge) $28

flourishes of skin contact that pull loads of textures & aromatics into a
plush, romantic framework of Viva Italia!

made near the seaside close to San Sebastin. Simply put, a modern
classic.

Beers

Helioterra, Starthistle Cuve 2014 (Oregon) $28

The saga of Heuxelreube, a progenitor of Chasselas (as if anyone other
than Alsatian wine fanatics know Chasselas), is so rare that the US Govt
doesn't even recognize it as a grape. Blended here with Riesling, you'll be
glad you took the chance on #OregonWeird

Red Wines
Les Terres Blanches, "Pot d'Vache" Gamay de Bouze (near Samur) $29
A rare retro variation on a different tribe of Gamay, from a tinteriuer
grape that brings huge red cherry and a sauvage element of unruly
wildness.
Diren, "Karmena," Field Blend 2011 (Anatolia) $23
Featuring the fun but challenging to say grape, kzgz, at 35%
blended with Cab Sauv, Merlot, and...Bogakere, this is a smooth operator
from the ancient heritage of wines from Turkey.
