# of Days

Context

Students have been studying Julius Caesar and are familiar with
the language and plot line. They have been working on writing
warrants in their arguments using the claim, evidence, warrant
model; this assignment is designed to help them continue their
work on formulating strong warrants in a different way other than
writing. By writing a justification paragraph, they are required to
defend their choices about what they cut out and what they kept
based on the rhetorical strategies present.

Lesson Objective(s)

Students will be able to identify rhetorical strategies in writing and


speaking and make arguments about their function and
importance.

Students will be required to cut out parts of Antonys speech
based on which rhetorical strategies they deemed most important.
Based on those findings, they will be asked to write a paragraph
justifying their choices of what they decided to keep and what they
decided to cut out. This will demonstrate their knowledge
