Program(s), Tools:
Adobe Photoshop.

Objective:

I wanted to share this quote from President Monson, The Lighthouse of the Lord beckons to all as we sail the seas of Life and
illustrate with images the sense that we are all sailing the seas
of life but can be guided by the light of the lord.

Process:

I collected 3 different images (all nautical related) and combined and

edited the images in Photoshop. I chose one of the images to be the
background image and I added a mask layer.I added the other two
images and softened the edges with the brush tool. I chose a font
that would be easy to read and a color that would contrast to the
black/blue background. I color matched the font with the light from
the lighthouse and wanted it the images to look like it was sailing in
the sea along with the message. I decided to leave the straight edges of the lighthouse so that we could see the shape of it.

Flier
Description:

This project was a good introduction to the design process. Beginning with the sketch, then the draft, getting feedback from good critiques, then creating the final draft. It was amazing how different the
final flier looked from the original sketch and how much the critiques
helped.

Program(s), Tools:
Adobe InDesign.

Objective:

The main point of a flier is to get the message across to those

who see it. The message here was to invite graduating students
to attend a leadership conference. I wanted to grab the attention
by using the bold type LEADERSHIP and then have a clear title
so that the viewer knew what the message was.

Process:

I just used a hand written sketch then designed the flier in InDesign
using the information and media provided by the client. Many of the
FOCUS principles came into play as I created the design such as
alignment and typography rules. I didnt want to make the flier too
jumbled as there was a lot of information to include so I had to make
sure there was adequate white space and that the overall flow had a
good flow to it.

Program(s), Tools:
Adobe Illustrator

Objective:

The Bike Desert logo attracts viewers to visit and cycle in the
Southern California Desert.

Process:

I drafted several different designs that contained the website name

Bike Desert then created them in Illustrator. I used various tools on
illustrator to create the graphics and chose different fonts for each of
the different designs. I gathered input from several people including classmates from facebook to help me decide which design was
the best. When the votes came in, I had a clear winner and decided
to take some of the advice from the critiques to make some improvements on the graphic and the font.

Brochure
Description:

I chose the three-fold design for this project, which allowed me to use
the front of the document as a grand piano to introduce to the document.

Program(s), Tools:
Adobe InDesign

Objective:

to promote a new musical school that offers great classes for all
ages.

Process:

It was fun to combine a few different programs for this project. I was
able to use Adobe InDesign for this brochure project. I set up my threefold design with two pages on a regular default document of 8.5in x
11in. I used the ruler guider to split each page into 3 separate sections.
I also used adobe Illustrator to design the logo on this project. I made
the graphic of a drum and put the company name above. I also used
adobe Photoshop for all images on this project.

Event Ad
Description:

This project was a good introduction to the how to use Microsoft

Word to its full advantage; Beginning with a sketch of the design,
then the draft, and finally, after getting feedback from good critiques,
creating the final draft. I enjoyed using Word Document and its hidden design tools.

Program(s), Tools:
Microsoft Word document

Objective:
Process:

Word document was the main application for this assignment. We

also learned how to properly use a scanner, and how to set up a
narrow margin so you print for a full bleed. Many of the FOCUS principles came into play as I created the design such as alignment and
typography rules. I didnt want to make the event with lots of wording
and paragraphs, so I used a large scanned image instead.

Imaging
Description:

This project is aimed to practice good quality photography and image

editing skills. I kept the original picture and added a quote to help
keep the simplicity to make it into a poster

Program(s), Tools:
Adobe Photshop

Objective:

The idea was to make a poster that I can frame about this bike and
cycling, and also of course, to showcase what we have learned regarding photography and topography.

Process:

This photo was taken in the early morning without the sun behind
us but was it was light enough to not to use a flash on the camera.
I used a 16 mp, small pointe and shoot camera on this assignment,
but I was am happy with the result- even in low light. The idea behind this concept is to play with color; the bike itself is mostly black
and white and small bit of green color on the tip of the fork and in the
rear back of the frame. Because of the low lighting the photo almost
looked black and white and I really liked the dark brown fence, which
helped with the composition and gave it a blue tone.
I liked how we applied all of the 4 techniques that we learned this
week in Photoshop.

Program(s), Tools:
Adobe Photshop

Objective:

To promote the logo design for the bikedesert.com and describe how
I created it.

Process:

For this project I built an HTML web page. The first thing I did was
resize my logo so that it could fit onto the page. I created a CSS style
sheet separately from the html page so I could apply modifications to
the design of the webpage template in a faster passed and kept my
folder organized for this project.
I used adobe photoshop and illustrator to design the logo and I used
TestWrengler to create the HTML and the CSS pages.
I used the FOCUS design principles to create a unified look for the
webpage.
