Save the
Date
Description:
Save the Dates announcing a wedding using simplistic design.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills):
I first grabbed a photo from the internet. I was able to do everything in Indesign. I
used a banner placed it two thirds down from the photo. I was able to change the
opacity and added a glow effect around the banner. I chose to do blue to make the
banner pop. I then added words within the banner. I simply added the date to the
bottom as well.
Message: A save the date that tells a family or friend when the date is.
Audience: Anyone that is friends with the bride or groom or anyone that is looking
to get married.
Top Thing Learned: How to use simple elements to create a modern simple save
the date.
Color scheme and color names: Complementary with blue and grey.

Flier
Description:
A flier advertising a graduate leadership conference which is in grey scale.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles):
I started off with a few sketches to see which way I wanted to design the flier. I
was also provided with the text, image, and logo for this flier. The sketches really helped me create a basic layout in Adobe Indesign. I chose to focus the main
points on the title which was, Graduate Leadership Conference as well as the
date of the conference. I wanted to do this because as I focused on these elements
in the design it will be much easier for the audience to remember when it is. In my
design I also created repetition of hexagon shapes to bring the flier together. I left
a decent amount of white space and was able to create really great flow within in
the flier.
Message:
The message focuses on those who graduated that are looking for experience and
to become greater leaders in the careers that they pursue.
Audience:
Those who just graduated around the age of 22 to 30.
Top Thing Learned:
One thing that I learned with the flier is the importance of flow.

Montage
Description: A inspirational montage using two photos and typography.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, Steps taken while designing):
I first chose a photo and changed the size to 8.511. I did all the edits in Photoshop. I then selected another photo which was the flower photo and I selected the
corner of that photo and feathered that to 100 px. I dragged and dropped it to the
girl photo. I used varying degrees of opacities on my mask layer to reveal the girls
face and body. I was also able to add a filter that was a lens flare to the photo. After
making sure everything blended well I added a circle with typography in it.
Message: I wanted to convey a spiritual truth through this photo. I want my audience to know that we are all children of God.
Audience: Anyone interested in their God and where they came from.
Top Thing Learned: I learned how to blend at least two photos together to create
a montage.
Filter / Colorization used and where it was applied: Diffused glow to the background with the girl.
Color scheme and color names: Tertiary: Indigo, teal, lime, gold, brick, &violet

Event
Ad
Description: This ad is a color full bleed that is promoting a biking event, made
with word and a scanner.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): I scanned the bike image and removed most of the background only keeping the figure and the small
objects around it with word. I wanted to bring more unity throughout the design so I added triangles throughout, which really brought it together and gave
it a great flow. I also wanted to really make the font match the theme of the event
and was able to give a great contrast through out the paper. Programs I used:
Microsoft word, Epson Scanner, and PDF2JPG.net.
Message: I wanted to promote a fundraiser in the heart of Philadelphia, where
everyone would be interested. The fundraiser would help inner city kids receive a
better education and receive the materials they need throughout the school year.
Audience: Anyone in the area or the surrounding area looking to help the community.
Color scheme and color names: Complimentary colors; magenta, green with
shades of black and white.
Top Thing Learned: I learned how to use the scanner and how to set the ppi.
Title Font Name & Category: Tattoo art- Decorative
Copy Font Name & Category: Walkway- Sans serif
Scanned images used, sources, original sizes, location of scanner used: The image scanned was from Bicycle playing cards (2014). The image was originally 2x
3. So I scanned 300 resolution to increase the size a bit. Which ended up to be
1250 X 1589.

Brochure
Description:
A two sided (duplex) folding brochure.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills):
I set up the fold in Adobe InDesign. I split my layout into two sections on each
side. This allowed for the inside to be showing a bit.I chose photos that had the
same color scheme that I chose for the brochure. This allowed it to match everything even the logo in the design.
For the image of the lipstick, scissors, and nail polish I used the quick selection
tool in Adobe Photoshop to remove the background of the image. I really liked the
looked of this so I applied it to all 3 images. I think this gave it a nice stylish and fun
look for the brochure. I then used the refine mask dialogue box to smooth, feather,
shift edge and apply contrast to the outline of the scissors and nail polish. The lipstick didnt need this effect because it already had nice and smooth lines. I placed
all the 4 images into InDesign where I used the text wrap option to wrap my text
around the alpha channel of the image. I created the logo in Illustrator which is
really easy. I used a square and used text. I as well was able to apply thin rectangles
to make it look like two bars going across.
Programs/Tools Used:Adobe InDesign/Adobe Illustrator/Adobe Photoshop
Message: Get awareness out there about the Beauty Bar and the amenities that they
have to offer.
Audience: Families and women.
Top Thing Learned: I learned how to wrap text around an image in InDesign.
Color scheme and color names: Split complimentary, shade of blue, orange, and
red.

Stationery
Description:
Matching letterhead and business card designed using a personally created logo.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills):
I first created the logo in Adobe illustrator using simple tools in that particular program. I added depth into the clover using the mesh tool. I also added a triangle and
typography to the logo. After I finished this process I was able to drag and drop
the logo into InDesign. I wanted to make my design pretty simple and clean. I was
able to use the logo multiple times that brought the design together. I was able to
do this for both the card and the letterhead. I was able to add lines to the top of the
letterhead as well to have a place to put the title and information. I changed the
opacity of the logo so it wouldnt distract from the design of the letterhead. I was
also able to change the opacity of the back of the business card to add a little more
interest in the business card. I am happy with how everything turned out.
Message: A cosmetic company that provides makeup that the customer will love.
Audience: Anyone that is interested in makeup.
Top Thing Learned: How to brand a company using a united letterhead and business card design.
Color scheme and color names: Complementary with Gold and emerald.

Description: A logo that would represent myself with future clients.Process
(Programs, Tools, Skills): When designing this logo I tried to incorporate all of
the design principles with color and repetition. I used a bold font against flowers
to give it a lot of contrast in the design. I aligned the boxes and font in the design
to make it simple and clean. The colors of the flowers contrast great against the
grey letters and boxes in the background. This makes it interesting but not too
busy. I chose the orange red color because it brought out the flowers in the logo.
I then selected the contrasting grey to help some elements of the design stand
out. I used a navy blue line around the design to give an extra contrast between
the red orange color and the white. I think this makes everything stand out and
gives it depth.
Message: I wanted the message to come across bright and welcoming. As well as
a simple design.
Audience: My target audience would be anyone interested in future designs I do,
so potentially future clients and employers.
Top Thing Learned: I learned how to use CSS to make my own website using
codes to personalize it.
Color scheme and color hex(s): I chose the orange red color because it brought
out the flowers in the logo. I then selected the contrasting grey to help some elements of the design stand out. I used a navy blue line around the design to give
an extra contrast between the red orange color and the white. I think this makes
everything stand out and gives it depth. Color Hexs: #eb4849, #1c1a53, #fcfafa,
& #6c6e6e

Photo
Design
Description: Demonstrate editing skills through photoshop using an original photo,
while using color from the original photo. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS
principles): First I chose a subject that I wanted, which was ukulele. I thought of a
way that I could bring more life through the photo so I decided to use the blanket. I
really wanted a lot of focus on the ukulele and with nice composition. After I was able
to use Photoshop to edit my photo. I was able to add some enhancements to the photo
through brightness, vibrance, sharpening the ukulele, and even using color selector to
bring out the green more so. I designed 8.5X11 layout that included my photo, text,
and colors. I did something that was simple but would draw attention. I chose to do a
regular black box with text within and even was able to add my color swatches within.
I really love the repetition of the repeating lines in my photo from the blanket, ukulele
strings, and even to the lines in the text box.
Message: I wanted to convey that music is much more than listening. Also by using the
colors I wanted to convey a very fun and light feel that comes along with music.
Top Thing Learned: I learned to use Photoshop with a higher skill.
Color scheme and color names: Analogous, Color names, sunshine yellow, mandarin
orange, and rasta green.

Logos
Description: Logo for a new cosmetic line.
Process:
At first Illustrator was a bit hard for me but as I worked with it I had a lot more
fun with it than I previously had. I was able to make 3 different designs and ended up choosing this one, most people I asked liked this one the most too. First
I mad polygons over lapping each other. As I looked at this I saw natural lines
that met up with each other. I thought this would be a good way to incorporate
the title of the company. I made lines to make it look like sunbeams. I made them
white as well to standout.
