Integrated Rate Law Expressions

Rate Laws are differential equations that show how the rate of
reaction varies with the concentrations of reactants, products and
other substances in the reaction mixture.
To see how the concentrations vary with time, we need to
integrate the rate law.
Predictions for variation of reactant or product concentration with
time from integrated rate law expressions are compared with
experimental data to determine the correct rate law.
Once the correct rate law is known, the value of the rate constant
k can also be determined.

Integrated Rate Law Expressions

We will consider in detail the integration of the rate law
expressions for the following:

1st order reactions of the form aA products, with R = k[A]

2nd order reactions of the form aA products, with R = k[A]2

2nd order reactions of the form aA + bB products, with

R = k[A][B]

nth order reactions of the form aA products, with R = k[A]n
