COMPETENCY

REFLECTIONS

COMPETENCY 001 VISION AND


CULTURE
Competency Addressed: I addressed this
competency by always being a positive person,
willing to help wherever and knowing my
purpose here is for the enrichment of our
students.
Learned: Vision and culture represent a shared
sense of purpose values and building
relationships.
Goal Statement: Demonstrate the culture and
vision of my school at all times.

COMPETENCY 002
COMMUNICATION/COLLABORATION
Competency Addressed: Weekly meetings with
staff; Parent contacts; and Google Docs
Learned: Communication is paramount in the
education field. Without communication and
collaboration among stakeholders, students fail
to succeed.
Goal Statement: Develop plans using
collaboration from the entire school body during
the school year.

COMPETENCY 003 - INTEGRITY


Competency Addressed: I saw this competency
addressed during MDR hearings and during
evaluations with teachers
Learned: It is important to act on situations
based on what is right and what is wrong.
Goal Statement: Operate with integrity in all
aspects of my life.

COMPETENCY 004 FACILITATE THE DESIGN


AND IMPLEMENTATION OF CURRICULA
Competency Addressed: I addressed this
competency by attending PLC meetings of
different subject areas.
Learned: The importance of a leader having the
ability to oversee any subject area with
confidence.
Goal Statement: Develop my academic skills in
all subject areas by attending curriculum staff
development by the end of the 2017 school year.

COMPETENCY 005 ADVOCATE AND


NURTURE
Competency Addressed: I facilitated the
implementation of sound, research-based theories
and techniques of classroom management and
student discipline to ensure the classroom was
conducive to learning.
Learned: Teachers cannot teach to learn if
students do not feel a sense of belonging.
Goal Statement: Identify a positive behavior
support program that can be implemented in my
school during the 2016/2017 school year.

COMPETENCY 006 STAFF


EVALUATION
Competency Addressed: By shadowing
administrators during his or her formative and
summative evaluations
Learned: As leaders we have to make some
difficult decisions that can cause staff to loose his
or her job or being placed on a growth plan.
Goal Statement: Demonstrate the use of the
evaluation program effectively by the end of the
2016/2017 school year.

COMPETENCY 007
ORGANIZATION/DECISION MAKING
Competency Addressed: One of my projects was
to determine where new cameras needed to be
placed in the school.
Learned: Decision making is a process that
guides action. One has to know whom to involve
and the path to take to make the appropriate
decision.
Goal Statement: Organize a team that
understands conflicts will arise but we have to
know how to overcome obstacles during the
school year.

COMPETENCY 008 BUDGET


Competency Addressed: Acquire, allocate, and
manage financial resources according to district
policies and campus priority.
Learned: The budget plays a vital role in the
functioning of the school and the leader has the
sole responsibility of making sure funds are
spent properly.
Goal Statement: Utilize all resources according to
district policies during the entire school year.

COMPETENCY 009 SAFE AND


EFFECTIVE LEARNING
ENVIRONMENT
Competency Addressed: This competency was
addressed the entire school year. During my
times at after school duty and metal detector
duties.
Learned: The importance of knowing what to do
during an emergency.
Goal Statement: Practice emergency procedures
frequently during the school year.
