Kitsilano Neighbourhood House is an exciting, innovative community service organization serving the
Westside of Vancouver. Kitsilano Neighbourhood House Community Preschool is located at 4th
and Alma and is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, effective team member for the position of
Preschool Assistant. The successful candidate will have excellent guiding and caring skills, for the
students and the ability to work in a diverse, multicultural, and energetic environment. We provide job
training and opportunities for ECE professional development workshops.

Position: Part-time Preschool Assistant

Hours: 22 hours/week part-time position
Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 8:30am – 4:30pm
Contracted from September, 2010 – June, 2011
Salary: $14.61 per/hr plus an excellent Medical/Dental benefit package
Closing Date: Monday May 10th, 2010 at 4pm

Responsibilities:
To provide and develop an appropriate and child centered play based curriculum for the
Preschool program. The ages of the children are 33 months to five years. Working with the Preschool
Teacher and the Coordinator of Childcare Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for
assisting in the planning, implementing, guiding and documenting of the preschool program. To attend
all staff evening training/meetings four times a year and participate in Kits House special events.

Qualifications
• Experience working with 3-5year olds in a preschool or daycare program
• BC ECE assistant teacher certification or BC ECE teaching certification
• Experience with emergent curriculum program planning, early literacy curriculum
development and program delivery
• Able to work and create successful relationships with families of the program
• Demonstrated ability to work with a team including volunteers.
• Experience working in a multicultural setting
• Attitudes and values which are compatible with the goals and philosophy of Kitsilano
Neighbourhood House.
• Valid first aid certificate
• Successful completion of criminal record check
• Class 4 is an asset
• Second language is an asset
