SATURDAY: John 8:2-11 Another chance

REFLECTION: Jesus tells her to go on her way and sin no more. She gets a second
chance! We know that God is merciful and gracious and gives us chance upon
chance.
PRAYER: For every time youve forgiven me, thank you Lord.

FRIDAY: John 8:2-11 Sand writing

REFLECTION: Jesus responds by writing something in the sand. Scholars imagine
that he might have written the sins of those testing him. But upon seeing their
sins, they left. For all have sinned and fallen short of Gods glory.
PRAYER: Show me Lord where I am in need of your love and grace, for my sin blinds
me to my own wrongs.

THURSDAY: John 8:2-11 Testing Jesus

REFLECTION: By way of this womans adultery failure, the scribes and Pharisees test
Jesus to see if he will uphold the Mosaic Law to stone her. Jesus does not make a
verbal reply.
PRAYER: May I speak when I am to speak; may I be silent when it is better.

Resilient: Failure is not the end of your story

WEDNESDAY: Luke 24:3650 With like minded

REFLECTION: Together the disciples wait in the city for the promise of the Holy
Spirit to be fulfilled. Their unity was linked to their like-mindedness in love for
Jesus and obeying his instruction. They had many things in common.
ACTION: Find ways to link/connect people who have similar age, stage, hobbies,
interests.

TUESDAY: Luke 24:3650 Peace be with you (continued)

REFLECTION: In Jesus ministry he welcomed and invited many to follow and
journey with him. In this scripture he joins up with those whove been part of his
earthly ministry. He goes where they are; he finds them to let them know that he is
risen.
ACTION: Create a habit of including people who are within 10 feet of you into your
conversations with others.

MONDAY: Luke 24:3650 Peace be with you

REFLECTION: Jesus offers a greeting of peace to those gathered. One way to live
and create community is to greet and meet someone you dont know the first 5 and
last 5 minutes of worship.
PRAYER: Give me courage to meet new people in worship.

Growing Deeply Guide at moumc.org/grow

Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and, lifting up his hands, he blessed them.

Then he said to them, These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with
youthat everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the
psalms must be fulfilled. Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures,
and he said to them, Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise
from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be
proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses
of these things. And see, I am sending upon you what my Father promised; so stay
here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.

While they were talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to
them, Peace be with you. They were startled and terrified, and thought that they
were seeing a ghost. He said to them, Why are you frightened, and why do doubts
arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet; see that it is I myself. Touch
me and see; for a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have. And
when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. While in their joy
they were disbelieving and still wondering, he said to them, Have you anything
here to eat? They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate in their
presence.
