Hows the vacation? (Huh?!)

No, this year in the US was never intended to be a vacation or

sabbatical (I wish!). But it is even fuller than expected. Thad is working
on a Masters degree, weve had dozens of speaking opportunities, and
Thad continues work with the Europe staff from here. Additionally,
GEM went through a presidential search and transition in the fall, in
which we were heavily involved. That resulted in Jon Burns taking
the helm of the mission. Jon is British pastor, church planter, and
passionate discipler, with experience in missional organizations around
the world. We are thrilled to have him on board!

The GEM name is everywhere!

As Jon stepped into his role, Thad was asked to take on a new role as
vice president for GEM. He is tasked with helping our approximately
300 field staff thrive, overseeing leader development and European
partnerships, and growing our ministries across the continent. Needless
to say, its a bit daunting, but we are excited to serve in this way.
You may be wondering what this means for our future. As planned, we
will head back to France in July. It makes sense for Thad to be based
in Europe, where he can more easily interact with our teams and team
leaders. The kids are at various levels of anticipation for the return, but
all are enjoying the time and experiences in the US this year.
When we get back to France we will immediately re-engage with our
local church and community. Thad will travel a bit more, but really its
an expansion of what weve already been doing. As always, our focus
remains: grow in the Lord personally, help others to better know and
grow in Him, and then they can help yet others have the opportunity to
respond to the Gospel. With all the tension and immigration in Europe
right now, it is a historic opportunity for the Gospel!

Thad was in Spain recently for a gathering of mission leaders. While there they
were tutored on the culture & tensions in Catalonia, a region seeking to break off
and form its own nation. Awareness of issues like this affect how we minister.
