Student teacher in a third grade classroom. Worked with one ELL student
every week on science concepts and related vocabulary through read
aloud lessons. Also worked with a small group on their creative writing
skills, and assisted the classroom teacher in her daily lessons and
routines.

Waltons Grizzly Lodge Summer Camp; Portola, CA

Camp counselor of children aged 7 14 over six sessions. Supervised a
cabin of 8 10 girls each session, and led both artistic activities and
waterfront activities as a certified lifeguard. As counselors, we were
responsible for providing all of the campers with a safe and happy
environment, which we were able to do throughout the summer.

Assisted a class of preschool students at a local school once a week for

Breakthrough SF; San Francisco, CA
Summer 2012 & 2013
Collaborated with fellow volunteers to support the teachers and staff of
the six-week program throughout each summer for 40 hours per week.
Arrived two hours earlier than my peers every morning to assist 6th grade
writing and science classes. Co-taught multiple artistic electives, wrote
lesson plans for each, and helped manage and organise activities for the
students during class. Tutored a group of 10 students in the after school
program for two hours every afternoon. Recognised as a leader among
the volunteers and given additional responsibilities, such as running the
library during lunch
