In 2012 the Bartow County School System set a goal to implement a

one to one laptop environment students in 3rd to 12th grade. Cass High
School has currently achieved this goal of having a one to one laptop
environment. Each student and teacher has an Apple laptop. With the
increase in the use of technology the school has allowed and
encouraged teachers to flip their classroom. Students now have
access to the Internet at all points during the day. Additionally,
students are allowed to have their cell phones with them throughout
the day but must adhere to the Bartow County School System cell
phone policy. As the role and availability of technology increases at
the school the importance of technology digital citizenship has become
a vital concern for teachers, parents, administrators, and stakeholders.
In an interview with Mr. McPherson, he believed that cyber bullying
was a concern for his 9th grade students and felt that they should be
better informed on the dangers, consequences, and overall concept of
cyber bullying. He expressed that in our world of social media many
young teenagers are irresponsible and nave when it comes to using
these means of communication. He expressed how the majority of

problems he has seen with students arguing, fighting, or being bullied

has started on the Internet through social media or text messages.
The unit was presented to his 1st period World History class. Cass High
School is one block schedule (90 minute classes). Through interviews
information was collected about the students in Mr. McPhersons class
(Table 3).
