1. Describe the context in which these artifacts were collected and identify the standard and
competency(s) the artifact represents.
The artifacts chosen for standard 6, assessment and evaluation were collected through
coursework through Buena Vista University. The competencies that I will be addressing are 2,
demonstrate an understanding of the proper administration and uses of standardized tests; and 5,
and apply assessment information in program design and program modifications to address
students needs.
The list that I created was created through information and research gathered and collected in
my coursework at Buena Vista University. This artifact addresses competencies 2 and 5.
The at-risk assessment/identification plan was created during coursework at Buena Vista
University and addresses competency 5.
2. What do they demonstrate to you about your learning and mastery of the competencies which
fall under this standard?
I believe that the list demonstrates that I have knowledge of the uses for standardized testing and
knowledge of the tests that are available for students. I also believe that this artifact shows my
knowledge of understanding that some students are in need of modification and that testing is an
effective way to determine what areas they need assistance in.
I believe that the at-risk assessment/identification plan shows that I have the skills to create an
assessment and identify areas that students need assistance or modification to. I believe that this
artifact also shows my knowledge of resources and the modifications that are available for the
students in the school.
3. What do these items of evidence tell you about your overall progress toward your personal
goals and your growth as a professional school counselor?
I believe that these artifacts show that I have a good base knowledge of evaluations and
assessments but have room for growth and improvement. I believe that the list shows that I know
of the resources available and where to find them. I believe that the at-risk
assessment/identification plan shows that I have the skills necessary to give students effective
help with their evaluations and assessments. I chose this area as an area of growth because I
know that there is much more that I can learn in this standard.
4. What are your plans for additional growth or improvement in this area?

My plans for additional growth in the area of standard 6 are to continue to see out professional
development opportunities. I will also find a mentor who can help and guide me through learning
and administering these evaluation and assessments. I plan to research and become familiar with
the evaluations and assessments that are available for the students in my school.
