Lesson: Greek Vase Scratch Art
3rd
Preparation: The students will be shown various things that are related to the Greek
culture before we begin with working on the project.
Lesson Aim for Today: Today we will learn about different symbols found in Greek
culture and the students will include some of the symbols in their scratch art vase.
By completion of the lesson the students will be able to name some of the different
symbols associated with Greek culture and they will be able to create their own
colorful scratch art vase image.

Student Learning Objective: By completion of the lesson, the students will be able to
name different symbols associated with Greek culture, be able to name the different
parts of a vase, and they will be able to create their own colorful scratch art image.

The students will learn about Greek culture and different
symbols associates with it.
The students will learn the term symmetry and how it
applies to a vase.
2nd- Realization
The students will see the finished products of their
projects and be able to distinguish the different symbols in Greek
culture and how it relates to their project.

Teach the Lesson:


A. 3rd-Contemplation
B. Activities:
The students will look on the board to talk about some
different images relating to Greek culture and their pottery.
The students will then learn about symmetry and how it
relates to pottery.
They will draw half a vase on one side of a paper and
transfer it to make an outline for the other side.
The students will then color the complete inside of the
vase hard with crayon.
They will then color over the vase with a black oil pastel.
They will then scratch out their design onto their vase.
They will then pick two colors of paper to adhere there
scratch art vase to to make it seem as if it is sitting on a table.
