Californiabutcrashlands1000milesoffcoursesotherescuecrewhasnoideawhere
tosearchforthem.Theplanesplitintwoovertheislandandthepassengersgot
separatedintotwogroups.Theleaderofthecockpitsectionwhichwefirstmeetisa
mannamedDr.JackShephard.TheleaderofthetailsectionsnameisAnaLucia.The
cockpitsurvivorsaresittingoutsideofthewreckagewhentheyhearaloudnoiseand
seetreesshaking.Theynamedthisthesmokemonster,aguardforthetempleonthe
Island.Inthefuture,thetwowreckagegroupsfindeachotherandcomebacktogether
asonegroup.Thinkingthattheyaretheonlyonesontheisland,theyquicklylearnthat
theyarenotaloneandthattherearenativestotheisland.Theleaderofthenatives
nameisBenLinus,akaDr.Linus.Heisamastermanipulatorwhohasatumorgrowing
onhisspinewhoplanstomanipulateJack,theleaderofthesurvivors,intoperforming
surgeryonhim.

9:00minutesAftereverythingissettleddownandeveryonethatcanbesavedissaved,
Jackfindsasewingkitandstumblesoffintotheforestwherehetakesoffhisshirtand
triestosewuphissidebuthecantreachit.Thenaladycomesoutoftheforestandhe
asksherifshehaseversewnanything.Shetakesalookathissideanddoesntthink
thatshecansewhimupbecauseshesscaredshellhurthim.Heaskshernicelytodo
itandshedoes.Sheaskshimhowcomehesnotscaredandhesays,Theveryfirst
timethatiwasdoingaspinalsurgery,itwasonagirlthatwasjustinawreck,Iripped
openherduralsacktheendofthespinewhereallthenervescometogether,
membraneasthenastissueandsoitrippedopen.Nervesjustspilledoutofherlike
angelhairpasta,spinalfluidspillingoutofherandi,theterrorwasjustsocrazysoreal,
andiknewihadtodealwithit.Ionlyletthefearinfor5seconds,fivesecondsandthat
wasall.Isewedherupandshewasfine.ThiswassomethingthatKate,thelady
sewinghimup,usedmultipletimes.

15:30:Thesurvivorsaresittingaroundafireafterthecrashtalkingandtakingthingsin,
wonderingwhynoonehascomeforthemyet.Everyone'stakingthetimetogettoknow
eachotherandallofasuddentheyhearthisloudnoisecomingfromtheforestandsee
treesshaking.Everyonestandsupandwonderswhatitcouldbeandtheystart
worrying.WehaveaflashbacktotheplaneafterthisandseeJacksittingontheplane
andtheyhitturbulence,hestartstalkingtohisneighbortokeephercalm.allofa
suddentheplanestartsshakinguncontrollablyandtheairbagscomedownforthemto
puton.Theydoandthenwerebackontheislandthedayafterthecrash.Jack,Kate
andCharlie,gointotheforesttofindthecockpit.

29:00Itstartsrainingwhiletheyreinthejungleandtheyfindthecockpitandclimbupit
tothecockpittofindthetransceiversothattheycanmaybecontactsomeonetoget
them.Whiletheyareinthecockpit,theyfindthepilotwhoisstillalivesomehow.He
tellsthemwhathappenedandthesmokemonsterappearsagain.Thepilotclimbsout
thewindowandgetssnatchedupbythesmokemonster.JackKateandCharlietake
offrunningawayfromthecockpitandgetseparated.Katehidesinbetweensometrees,
CharliegetslostandJackdivesintosomebushes.Theyallfindeachotheragainand
findthepilothangingfromatreeallbloodiedup.

1:00Charlie,Kate,andJackarewalkingthroughtheforestbacktocamptryingtoget
thetransceivertoworkandKateasksCharliewhyhewasinthebathroomofthe
cockpitandhesaysbecausehewasthrowingup.Wethengetanotherflashbacktothe
planewhereCharlieissittinginhisseat,tappinghisfingersonthechairwhentheflight
attendantcomesuptohimandaskshimifhesokay,hegetsagitatedatherandthen
shewalksbackandtalkstotheotherflightattendantsandCharliethengetsupand
triestogotothebathroomandtheattendantsfollowhimbacktothebathrooms.Charlie
thenlockshimselfintheirandstartstododrugsinthebathroomoftheplane.Justwhen
hestartstogethigh,theplanehitsturbulenceandhedropshisdrugsinthetoilet.
Walter,whowasalsoontheplanewhenitcrashed,isoutlookingforhisdoginthe
forestwhenhefindsapairofhandcuffs.WegobacktothebeachwhereweseeSayid,
anIraqi,andSawyer,aconman,fightingbecausehethinksthatSayidcrashedthe
planeandthecuffswerehis.Kateannouncesthattheyhavefoundthetransceiverand
saysthatitsbrokenbutasksifanyonecanfixit.SayidvolunteersandHurley,aka
Hugo,comesoverandtalkstoHurleyaboutlife.

Sayid,Kate,Charlie,Sawyer,Boone,andShannon,goonahikeafterSayidfixesthe
transceivertohopefullygatherasignaltosendoutadistresscallsothattheycanbe

Astheyrehikingup,SayidandSawyerstartarguingabouttryingtogetasignaland
startyellingwhenallofasuddentheyhearsomethinggrowlingandrunningtowards

wonderwhy.Charlieasks,Guys,wherearewe?andthenthescreengoesblank.

lookingattheshrapnelmanwhotheyfoundoutwasaUSmarshalbringingKateback
tothestatestobetriedforthemmurderofherstepfather.Wehaveaflashbackto
beforetheplanecrashedandwearenowseeingKatebeforethecrash.Sheissleeping
inaguysbarninAustraliaandhebringsherintohishouseandasksifshewouldliketo

Theygroupreturnsbacktothebeachandtellsthemthattheyneedtoprepareforthe
longhaul,becausetheywereunabletoacquireasignal.JackandKatestarttalkingand

toseeifitstheirsandhetellsherno,thatshesfilthyandtogowashup.Hesayshe
lovesherandshetriesherhardesttosmileathim.Jackgoesintothefuselageand
startsgoingthroughtheluggageintheretryingtofindsomemedicinesanduseful
thingswhenhehearsanoise.ItwasSawyerlooting.HimandJackgetintoan
argumentandJacktellshimthatwhathesdoingiswrongandthatitbelongsto
everyone.Fromthereonout,whatJacksaid,Sawyerwillalwaysbeselfishaboutgiving

Michaelislookingforhissonsdogthatwasontheplanewhensomethingstarts
chasinghimthroughthewoods,hestartsrunningandrunsintosunwhoispartially
nakedandthingsgetalittleawkward.SayidcomesupandtalkstoJackandtellshim
thattheothersaregettingupsetbecausetheywanttoknowwhatsgoingoninsidethe

marshalendhissufferingbygettingsomeonetoshoothimforherbutthatendedupin
apuncturedlungandmoresuffering.

NotanormalIsland
Thefactthatthismanypeoplesurvivedacrashfromthatfarupin
theairisnotcommonatall.Thesecondisthatwhentheyfoundthepilot,hetoldthem
thatwhentheyturnedbackaroundtolandinFiji,theywerethousandsofmilesoff
course.Thenthefirstnightontheislandthereissomegiantmonsterintheforest
tearingdowntreesandmakingloudnoises.Also,whentheyweresearchingforasignal
fromthetransceiverandtheyhadapolarbearchasingaftertheminthemiddleofa
jungle,thatsnotsomethingyouwouldfindonanormalisland.
