00:00 - Music - Good bye to gravity - The day we day

00:08 Survivor Radu Stancu It was the last agreement with the guitar
and the end of the song. Suddenly the fireworks began. Flame stalled
on the wall, and then the whole ceiling flame filled in the club in less
than 10 seconds.
We struggled to get out of the door. The door was only one and a
quite small! Just before reaching the exit, we were struggling from the
back and I fell down.
I was caught between humans. I grabbed my hand like this.
The rest of my body was covered by other people bodys. I suffered injures
at my head because occasionally I was trying to get more fresh air.
00:28 Witness Savior - Florin Andone Everything was very strange. No
Burst ! There were only flames. You were never at the Collective?! It's
downstairs. In a factory. A club in a factory. Yes ! There were foreigners
people too. I put some injured people in the ambulance and police cars. It
came just a rescue car. When we called, they thought we were making a
joke. It was terrible.
Romania, right? Welcome to Romania. What can I say ?
00:48 Witness 2 Savior Ioana Andone I saw the fire. I was at my home
window and saw the fire. I helped people. I came quickly and helped
many people. They were wounded. I put some of the men that I could
carry on the ambulances. In a moment there were 10 patients on a
rescue team car.
1:13 RAed Arafat Head of Smurd - Emergency and Rescue Actions - I will
give you some information about the victims in hospitals. 50 injured were
transported in Floreasca Hospital.
1:20- Romanian Citizen This tragedy marked me. In the last twenty years I
have lived abroad. I arrived Friday in Bucharest and suddenly everyone
called me.

How can I explain this tragedy to My friends outside the country?

Who is guilty for this? Sounds outrageous. A hall with a single output.
You cannot explain to an ordinary human being who lives in a system
that works.
1:53 - Sound Ambiance Orchestral
1:58 - Alex Buzica Narrator Revolt, pain and solidarity. These are
the perfect words to describe the state of mind of the Romanian
citizens after the fire.
The Collective Club Tragedy created indignation and had given birth
to a sort of uncertainty among civil society. People no longer felt
protected by the System.
On the evening of the fire, I interviewed Joanna and Florin Andon.
They live near the club and were first arrived at the site of the
tragedy.
Thrilling interview
2:22 Ioana Andon I helped people! I came and I helped many
people. They were injured, they were burned totally. I-we called the
ambulance, and after 30 minutes they started to come more rapidly.
2:33 Florin Andon We came to help people !
Reporter A.Buzica You live in the area ?
2:35- Florin Andon Yes ! I am living here in the block ! I resurrect three
wounded. I put the people in the police car to transport them quickly.
2:45- Ioana Andon I've got people who could still walk, but they were
totally burned! Hands were burned and the face too.
2:50 Florin Andon- And the rest were dead.
2:55 Ambiance Ambulance Siren

3:00 Narrator A.Buzica In the same night, people of all ages, formed
queues at blood donation centers. In Romania were days of national
solidarity. Bucharest residents were shocked. All had an acquaintance or a
close friend who knew someone injured or dead during the Goodbye to
gravity concert.
I met Michael at the center of transfusions.
3:20 - MIchael Citizen Donator- I was shocked first. I wanted to help. I
wanted to come and make a difference. Everybody says we
Romanians do not get involved. But how many people I have seen
here, it is not so. We help each other! We have deep feeling!
We should always donate blood. To substitute the lack of plasma
from Romania.
I donated for Colective victims. I came at 11 o clock and I donated in
3 and a half o clock, and the Bucharest residents kept coming
4:00 Narrator A.Buzica Three days of national mourning were
declared in Romania. The Factory where the club was located,
became a place of pilgrimage. The second day after the fire, people
organized a March of Silence
I we chatted with Florina, a young Bucharest resident. It was the first
time when the street voice being heard among tears and pain
4:20 Reporter- What do you think is going to change now ? Is a Silent
protest. Why are you here ?
04:24- Florina Tudica- Protester - I hope that the young ones would
realize what's really happening in the country! I do not know if it will
change anything, and I don t know if someone will take any action.
But I hope that someone will take measures. It does not happen the
first time. Such was the case of the club in Consntanta, when two
dancers were burned alive.,
It was happening at maternity with the babies and was happening
here with a bunch of young people.
I'm here because I want stringent controls in all the clubs in Romania.
I want to know if they had place approval. I want the mayor of district
4 to pay for the tragedy!

5:00 Narrator A.Buzica During the investigation came to light that two
firefighters who have given approvals for the operation of the club, did not
report irregularities discovered. The two firefighters who gave the
approvals didnt even knew about the existence of the club in that factory.
5:10 Narrator A.Buzica - It was the moment when people became
outraged and put all the guilt on the system back. Citizens sought
principal culprits in the street.
After the first night of protests, resignations occurred at the highest
level.
5:22 Protester Girl It is a lot of anger here ! I am anger !
(AMBIANCE DOWN PONTA / CROWD YELLING -Anticoruption) ENOUGH!
I am tired of being angry ! I want something new for the new generation.
I'm more angry at those who stay home ! They say there's nothing we can
make ! They say is no hope!! No government willingly resigns! THIS can be
done only if people are in the streets.
5:45 Reporter Alex Buzica ( Recorded from the University Square Protest
)Thousands of people participate in the march, which started from the
university Square and is going now to the Government. There are
thousands of people who joined the march.
Protesters yell angry chants and slogans against Cristian Popescu
Piedone the mayor of district 4 in Bucharest.
5:55 - AMBIANCE CROWD PROTESTER You are afraid cause your
government has failed !
6:00 Ambiance - PROTESTER SHAME ! RESIGNATION ! RESIGNATION ! The
Assasins ! The Assasins ! SHAME ! SHAME ! SHAME ! SHAME !
6:15 Reporter Alex Buzica - Interviewing a protester Why are you here in
the street ? What bothers you in Romania ?

6 :20 Protester Girl - I am here to protest against minister of internal

affair and against the mayor of District 4 - Piedone.
6:22 Protester Men Is very painfull., I ve lost a friend a few days ago in
the fire.
6;26 Old Lady Protester I protest with others! I believed that after the
1989 i will not shout on the street! And after 26 years, I am still here
AMBIANCE PROTESTER WITH POWER ! RESIGNITION RESIGNITION !
6:46 Reporter Alex Buzica Relating Night of the protest About 20
thousand people marched from the University to the Government Buiding.
After, they were headed to People House and at the City District 4.
Protesters of all ages came to march !
Ambiance Protest Yeling Crowd - MAFIA ! DOWN WITH MAFIA SISTEM !
7: 00 VICTOR PONTA ex Prime Minister of Romania relating -second
day after de biggest protest in the post communist erra- November 4 As
Prime Minister of the government I want to thank once again to all
firefighters, doctors and authorities who did their job.
7:10 - VICTOR PONTA ex Prime Minister of Romania relating -second day
after the protest The main culprits are greed and irresponsibility.
Today (11/04/2015) I have submitted my mandate as prime minister
Ambiance University Square All the parties the same thing ! All the
parties the same thing !
7:25 Narrator A.Buzica Resignations of Prime Minister Victor Ponta and
the Mayor of District 4, were not enough for Romania! People wanted a
government of technocrats and the removal of the current political class.
In Bucharest where riots against corruptionThe University Square was
turned into a debate territory.

7:46 Citizens wanted to consult with Romanian President Johannis in the

Square ! Ambiance Protester Crowd Yelling Chaotic ! Down with the
corruption !
8:00 Protester Girl - On my placard ? I wrote - Fuck all your wicked
Corruption! It is a little musical sequence of the song The day we day.
8:10 Reporter Alex Buzica It Is from the song of the five who wanted
to release an album, but they sparked a revolution.
8:15 Protester Girl I think it's actually the last straw that broke the
camel.
Ultimately it is not just the guilt ! It's about responsibility! Liability policy !
8:26 Reporter What do you want in this moment ?
8:30 Protester Girl - I want more! I want that the government be the
first to follow the rules!
8:40 CROW YELLING TOGHETER SINCRON WITH POWER !
RESSIGNITION ! RESIGNITION !
8:45 Ambiance mixing with song Goodbye to gravity The day we day
9:00 Ambiance Protest get intens ! People want more !
9:10 Reporter Alex Buzica Third day of protests! What do you claim
today ?
09:15 Protester Male I am here to remove the political class in
Romania, removing corruption! I want respect for citizens !

9:17 Reporter A.B They are yelling DOWN WITH THE PARLAMENT !
09:20 Protester Male- It is difficult to say now who to put in their place!
The entire political class is corrupt in Romania! ! Parliament and lawmakers
must disappear. I mean, an impossible thing !
9:34 Protester 2 Male We are here to put pressure on the system! We
do hear! And we're not leaving here anytime soon!
9:43- Protester 1 Female - We do not have government anymore ! And this
is the time when people should rule ! Not the parties! ! !
People who are not affiliated with political parties!
9:58 Protester 3 Male I came to change the entire political class! Last
night I changed only two !
10:15 Reporter: You were at Colectiv, almost daily at the protests in
University Square and Victoria Square.
Glavan protester 23 years: I still have energy
Reporter: Are you tired?
Glavan protester 23 years: no, not at all.
Reporter: What you wanted last night had repercussions today, it has
happened. What do you want now?
10: 20 - Glavan protester 23 years; This is just the beginning, there are
many problems in Romania. Indeed, it is sad what happened to the
Collective and this was seen in social how we are. Basically, we have
to solve the underlying problem. The real source of evils, to prevent
what has happened to those poor people. The poor young people.

10:42 - we must change the main source of evil. There are problems
in government, justice, army

10: 46 Reporter: What is your name? How old are you ?

Glavan protester 23 years old.- Glavan is my name and I am 23 years old.
10: 50 - Reporter I am from Radio Romania. Tell me why you came here
today ?
10:52 - protester 4 - I came because I want early elections and what hurts
me is that the Roman Church Patriarch, His Beatitude Daniel, did not come
to make a statement at Club Collective.
11:00 protester 4- He should get down from his golden throne and talk to
the crowd.
11: 03- Reporter So, for this you have come here today.
11:04 protester 4 - Yes
11:05 Reporter - How old are you?
11:06 - protester 4-28 years.
11:07 - Reporter - What you studied ?
11:08 - protester 4 - Faculty of Music.
11:10 - Reporter : The protesters are yelling SAME DIRT, SAME DIRT !
11:12 - Ambiance Crow yelling togetgher - ALL PARTIES SAME Dirt ! ALL
THE Parties are Mess !
11:21 - Protester Girl Ponta resignation is not enough, we want real
change, we want another system. We will No longer tolerate
corruption. The Humans need to be prioritized as an civilized country.

11:32 - Ambiance Crow yelling togetgher - Collective! Collective ! Collective

!
11:42 - Ambiance Crow togetgher- Get out of the house if you care! Out of
the house if you care!
11:50 - Alex Buzica - Narrator - It was increasingly difficult for me to speak
about the numbers of the ones who deceased. On the last day of the
Protest, Romania President, Klaus Johannis came and spoke with the
citizen from the University Square.
12: 02 - Alex Buzica - Narrator In the streets, Romanian people were
still searching for the culprits! The passage of time makes the fault to
be common. Bribes and corruption killed in the Collective? Laws?
The low level of living? Or indifference of the citizens? Those were
just some of the answers I ve been looking among civil society shortly
after the end of the Big Protest.
12:22 - Female Citizen Bucharest We feel an immense pain and a really
deep silence. However, I have a misunderstanding and anger. Why the
Church did not donate money for hospitals !
12: 41 - Bucharest Citizen Female.- The priests made so much money, and
they have raised thousands of euro with holy relics! Where is the church
now ?
12:53 - Citizen 6 Bucharest intervene in discussion - Where is the Patriarch
?
12:54 - Female Citizen Bucharest The Patriarch and the priests should
have come in the front of the collective, here with all remaining
people. Now, they have a point less. I can not believe they did not
say a pray at the site of tragedy with all the Romanian people and
especially with all the youth gathered. It's amazing! It's amazing!

13:14 - Female Citizen BUCHAREST - When you are sad you are going to
speak with a priest, but in this case the priests were not being
presented in the life of the citizens. Shame the Church !
Unfortunately
13:20 - Bucharest Female Citizen - I wanted to say those things. The
Priests Are full of money, do all kinds of business! With wine, with
tourism, but they dont donate to hospitals. They do it only when they
are contrained.
13:30 - Reporter - Are you a parent?
13:31. - Citizen -Andreea Birsan - Female - Parent: Yes! I am a parent and
my kids are going to rock concerts and I'm glad that they were home on
October 30.
13:47 - Reporter - I think it's irrelevant where you go, what music you
listen. How do you feel now after the tragedy?
13:50. - Female Citizen Andreea Birsan - Parent I really do not know what
to say.
13:52- Reporter - I see hundreds of people at the site of tragedy turned
into a place of pilgrimage, here from where we talk in these moments for
Radio Romania.
This tragedy changed us ?

14:01- Female Citizen Andreea Birsan - Parent - I hope that the

Romanians will be changed after this. Although, in this society very
disunited, we really showed unity! We need to not forget what
happened here and I hope we will stay united.
But unfortunately not only in us stand this change. I think We
gathered here in the vain, I think the power lies in those who chose to
enter politics. Unfortunately, out of contempt, for 25 years the
politicians have not been shown anything.

14; 41- Reporter What is you name ?

14:44 - Citizen- Andreea Birsan - Female - Parent Andreea Birsan. What
words can we say ... May the God give rest to those who died. God may
give health to those who are on the hospital bed.
15: 00 - Male Citizen - I know that it is very difficult to talk and to
express my pain. I came from beneath and what I saw today is
outrageous. I can not believe! It was a crematorium here. It's painful.
15:20- Male Citizen - I have children, we have children, it can happen
to anyone, I put myself in the shoes of parents who have lost their
young people, very civilized people, some of them intellectuals,
architects. Yes, I know everything about victims, because one of
those who died was my child's teacher at the faculty of architecture.
15:42 - Male -Citizen - What happened here was beyond imagination. It
was an error at all levels and everything starts from the top down, not the
reverse.

15:52 Male Citizen As a citizen of this country, I want urgent actions

to be taken now, I scream! The whole soul of man, intellectuals,
politicians.. I want to leave state institutions through their
representatives and to come out and tell us something.
16:11 - Male Citizen I necessarily want this. Starting with the president,
government, the parliament!
16: 14 - Male Citizen - From Giulesti Maternity Hospital, where a poor
nurse was held responsible for the death of that little childs, is just a
result of the mistake and incompetence of the Romanian system.
16:30 - Reporter - People from all over Romania, as is the gentleman I
spoke to, are showing their solidarity at the site of the tragedy.

16:38 - Male Citizen - Condolences for the parents. Bucharest is actually

insecure and unsafe for the people. Bucharest is not only insecure, the
whole country is unsecure.
16; 47- Male Citizen - Children, young guys came here to have fun at a rock
concert and they died.
16: 51 - The Old revolutionary 89 - In 1989 when I took to the streets
dreaming that I'll be retired and I live as a visitor arriving from the West.
West I want! And you saw: We hoped, I hoped and we are still the same.
17:05. - The old Revolutionary 89 Everything is The same! We've had
enough! Excuse me! I'm very sorry to say this! I hoped in a
democratic society, but we continue to lie, we lie, we accept lie,
accept the gall to have immoral guidelines and we look at the
criminals who lead us. What models can be those of our children?
17:33 - The Old revolutionary 89 The results: people die in hospitals,
are dying on the street, the younger dies in the places where they
supposed to have fun.
We should remove this political class, who tumbles liberal thefts from
right to left and vice versa, and some of the media lie and I say it with
regret!
17; 58 - The old Revolutionary 89 Romanian Media in place to educate
the population, depending on certain sources, they are lying about
obvious things.
18:09 - Narrator A.Buzica- Following the protests that took place, in
Romania has formed a new technocrat government.
18:15 p.m. Narrator A.Buzica In The tragedy of the Colectiv, the people
who did not died because of the fire, were killed by toxic gas, said the
INSEMEX Report. Chemists who contributed to the case, found 24 toxic
substances emitted in the club when the fire erupted. Everything burned
in 153 seconds, from the air vents mounted outside the entrance of
the club, to the smallest piece of furniture and interior. From scene
there was remained only the metal frame.

18:38 - Narrator - Today the number of lost lives is 64.

18:48. - Narrator - A.Buzica - I met Michael Balabas at 4 months after the
tragedy. It is an independent underground artists instrumentalist who
collaborates with many Romanian bands.
On the night of the tragedy, he came to speak on the phone. The phone
was the one who saved my life. Then I helped the wounded to leave the
club.
How he sees Romania ?
19: 12 - Reporter A.Buzica - Mihai I know that on the night of the Colectiv
tragedy, the phone was the one who saved your life. Now we talk a few
months after the tragedy. Hard times.
Is a change in the Romanians mentality? Did the youth voice that was
heard in street first time since 1989 got Echos?
19: 29- A.Buzica Reporter - What do you feel now? You are able to find the
guilty for what happened, because you were there.
19:33 - Michael Balaba - Music Composer - I do not think you can blame
anyone in particular. To me, the only culprits are those who have installed
the pyrotechnic effects.
19:46 - A.Buzica Reporter - What do you wish you from Romania today as a
collective?
19:50 - Michael Balaba Music Composer - This is really hard to say.
The team should mean something united and the all country is not
united. We are not united on many levels. Especially on the political
stage. In my oppion there were a few protesters on the streets.
20:10 - Michael Balaba Music Composer - Young people get out in the
street because they have other friends who do this.

20:20 - Reporter Alex Buzica - It was a revolution of mentality. A revolution

of change.
20:25 - Michael Balaba - Music Composer - A revolution of change too
small. I do not feel any change. No. Probably I feel a change among people i
know. I Do not go out very much, I an not an extroverted.
20:47 - Michael Balaba - Music Composer - Collective tragedy was a fact.
It has happened there. Even if it thought was a declick, it caused the fall of
the government ....
20:57 - Reporter Alex Buzica - Is this one a collective guilt? Romanian fault?
21:08 - Michael Balaba - Music Composer - Yes! We are guilty, but we did
not know what to do. Poor people in the country have reached big level
since the economic crises.
21:17 Michael Balaba - Music Composer In Romania, everyone is playing
with each other, with each other lives, money, food and the medicines. Is an
dangerous game.
21:32. - Composer Michael Balaba - There are many ordinary people in
Romania and a few in the middle class
Romanian system is weak.
21:50 - Michael Balaba - Music Composer - Blanket top intellectuals in
general, are too full of themselves.
21:55 - Michael Balaba - Music Composer It is a crowd everywhere! And
I do not mean just cars. everywhere are crowded thoughts, crowded news,
90 percent of them false.
22:07 - Michael Balaba - Music Composer Because of this crowd that I
talk about, are happening things like Collective tragedy.

22:19 - Narrator - Alex Buzica - Investigation into the Collective tragedy is

underway.
Alin Anastasescu, Paul Costin Gancea and Mincu, the three shareholders of
the club are accused of manslaughter in the case of fire and were placed
under house arrest.
22: 31- Narrator - Alex Buzica - Regarding security clearance to fire the club
Collective and controls that should have made the Bucharest Inspectorate
for Emergency Situations, the DNA military prosecutors have opened a
criminal case and put under charged two employees from ISU, respectively
Captains Antonina Radu and Petre Matei George.
22:48 - Narrator - Alex Buzica Also, the prosecutors put under arrest the
fireworks company - Nita Daniela (administrator), Cristian Nita (Director)
and Viorel Zaharia (pyrotechnics).
22:57 Narrator - Alex Buzica - Prosecutors decided that the fire in the
Collective was the fault of the people who were in administration. They
allowed a large number of people over the limit of the club. The club was
not provided with several escape routes in case of emergency and the
deployment of a show with pyrotechnics was strictly forbidden.
23:20 Narrator. - Alex Buzica This Tragedy will remain a long time in
the hearts of the Romanians, because Collective fire is a common
fault. A Collectiv fault.
23:37 - Ambiance Crow yelling together - Corruption Kill! corruption Kill
23:41. - Ambiance yelling toghether Crowd - Down with the government
