Audience Research Questionnaire Analysis Radio Trailer

Again these two questions have highlighted the mix in gender and age of both
my primary and secondary targeted audience.

By asking this question I have enquired further into my targeted audiences


consumption habits. The answers, showing that the majority of my targeted
audience would consider themselves listening to the radio either quite a lot or all
the time, have proved how successful my promotional material could be by using
such a platform.

In order to define these findings further I wanted to enquire more specifically into
the channels that my targeted audience prefer to listen to. In doing so therefore I
uncovered an equal split in habits. My stratified sample revealed how Pop music
stations such as Capital FM and stations with a wider range of music such as BBC
One, Two and Three are equally preferred. This could be indicative of the division
in socio economic groups between my Primary and Secondary targeted audience
however, these answers still suggest a preference that I will let influence my
choice of distributing institution.

I provided my sample with a link to the Pacific Rim Radio Trailer and asked them
to give their opinions. I thought that this could help me when identifying
conventions I should conform to with my own trailer. The answers mainly
mention the use of soundtrack and sound effects which I am planning to include
in my own trailer. Hopefully then, with these answers confirming what I expected,
I will be able to effectively engage my targeted audience through the use of
sound effects and sound tracks that will then later be associated with the film.
Not only does this engage the audiences interest but it also contributes to the
development of the Films Brand Identity.

In order to get a more detailed answer out of my stratified sample I provided


them with a second link where they could access a number of film trailers and
asked them to pick the one that most appealed to them. I also asked them to
reason why they done so, this way I would be able to identify the conventions
that stood out most to my targeted audience when the trailer that most
appealed to them is coveted by three others. This meant that these answers will
be able to tell me the conventions that differentiate radio trailers most from
other Film campaigns.
Many of the answers comment on the use of soundtrack and sound effects as in
the previous question. However, a number of answers have emphasized the
significance in the use of critic ratings and celebrity endorsement. This therefore
suggests to me that the critics ratings and names of the main actors can act as
a quality assurance for consumers undecided on whether or not to see the film.
As a result then I am going to take influence from this survey for my final product
and ensure I include conventions such as critic ratings in order to engage my
target audiences attention.
