I am excited to have the opportunity to apply for a teaching position. I am less than two weeks
from graduation at Alma College and I have scheduled to take my certification exams in the
months of June and July of 2016. My endorsements will be in Elementary Education,
Mathematics and Integrated Science.
I believe in providing students with a learning experience that meets all of the students academic
and behavioral needs while preparing them for the future. I enjoying creating a classroom
environment that encourages students to be active participants and critical thinkers. As a part of
my Education courses, I have worked in classrooms at the 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade levels. I
have tutored and assisted teachers as well as probation officers with hands-on math activities,
kinesthetic science lessons and developed a simple formula to teach the middle school students
the difficult concept of factoring. I am almost finished with my student teaching, which is in a
sixth grade math and science class as well as an eighth grade science class. Over the course of
my student teaching I have acquired a great deal of knowledge that I hope will be a positive
additive to your school and education program.
In addition to my Education coursework, I have increased my understanding of childrens needs
by working for the 29th Circuit Court, Family Division. This experience molded me to become a
person that can work with any type of student and show the student that I can assimilate the
difficulty of being a scholar and balancing the struggles of life. I provided individual and group
tutoring sessions for students who needed help in mathematics, English, and science. Working
for the 29th Circuit Court, Family Division helped me learn how to relate to many different types
of students no matter their experiences in life. My ultimate goal as an educator is to make every
student better each day than the time that they stepped into my classroom. I believe that as long
as I accomplish this goal everyday my students will have no choice, but to become better inside
as well as outside of the classroom.
