Time to Write Your Own National Anthem

You are going to write a national anthem for a real or fictional (not real) country. For example you could write
an anthem for a country described in one of your favorite books. What would the anthems of Narnia or Panem
be about? You could also write a new national anthem for Canada or any other country.
In order for a song to be a national anthem it needs to be about the love of ones country. Nationalism is about
being loyal and proud of your country. Often people think their country is better than any other country. In your
anthem you express loyalty and love by including things which make that country unique and wonderful. Some
of these include: your countys colours, symbols, animals, history, what it believes in, what it values, important
people from that country and/ or anything else which makes that place unique and wonderful.
What you must have in your anthem:
at least five figures of speech (such as: simile, metaphor, hyperbole, onomatopoeia, oxymoron,
alliteration and personification)
at least 2-3 stanzas (stanzas are like the paragraphs in essays or verses in songs. They break up the
poem into sections. For example the Star-Spangled Banner has four stanzas)
a minimum of 10-15 lines, but feel free to write more
a clear connection to nationalism. Throughout your anthem you need to describe what makes your
country so great.
