and parents will give me a grasp on how I can
handle it.
Keeping students records accurately and well
organised will be essential. Reading the various
textbooks I have in regards to assessment will be
useful but also sitting in on school meetings and
team meeting in my upcoming placement. Taking
notes on the strategies and techniques, they
discuss in these conversations will help be gain a
greater understanding of what is expected. My
previous placement used individualised
assessment reports for each student, and this is
one technique that I can use. Every teacher will
be different so as I continue through my
placement I will aim to ask not only my mentor
but the other teachers around what type of
organisational techniques they use in regards to
assessment recording.
Strategies in which to achieve this goal are
difficult because I have had little exposure to
conversations with parents as I have only briefly
been in a classroom environment and was
unable to build any significant relationships.
However, to prepare myself for the many parental
encounters I face throughout my teaching
journey, I am going to seek advice from the
people around me in my future placement. To
discuss with teachers their strategies and how
they involve and interact with parents will give me
an insight into how I can develop my strategies.
Also with a variety of communities being very
much multicultural, it is important to understand
the different cultural aspects that will be involved
and ways to respect various cultural beliefs. It is
important to build relationships with parents and
carers and through an understanding of different
cultural beliefs and asking questions to teachers.
Hopefully I can further develop my skills with
engaging with parents and carers.

When designing lesson plans, I will allow

variations of each lesson to give myself the best
opportunity to react under pressure. Having
flexible lesson plans, which can be done, in many
different situations. Whether the classroom has
the use of the internet, a whiteboard or having
two classes in one. Being flexible organised,
having a plan B and understanding the primary
goal of the task will be strategies I can use to
when something unexpected may happen.
