Reflection
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field

experience. What did you learn about
technology facilitation and leadership
from completing this field experience?

Every year the first day of preplanning we typically have breakout

sessions for the first part of the day.
These breakout sessions review
school policy and procedures, school
visions, etc. At this years breakout
sessions I was nominated to present
our schools eClass initiative during
our breakout sessions.
2. How did this learning relate to the
knowledge (what must you know),
skills (what must you be able to do)
and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs,
enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader?
(Refer to the standards you selected in
Part I. Use the language of the PSC
standards in your answer and reflect
on all 3knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)

This experience was exactly what a

technology facilitator or leader is called
to do. In a sense the entire staff returned
from summer vacation to hear me
present a new teaching method in much
the same way an instructional coach
would present to the staff. Throughout
this process of researching eClass I was
able to research, recommend, and
implement strategies for initiating and
sustaining technology innovations and
for managing the change process of my
school towards implementing eClass.
Although only 4 hours are recorded this
is a much larger project that has been a
year and a half in the making. This
particular step in the process centered
around planning and communicating a
plan of transition to a blended model of
instruction.
3. Describe how this field experience
impacted school improvement, faculty
development or student learning at
your school. How can the impact be
assessed?
This session definitely sparked a fire in
several of the teachers on campus to
become excited about incorporating
eClass in to their classrooms. It also
brought to light several questions that we
did not think about and gave us an
opportunity to demonstrate our trouble
shooting abilities. I think the impact of
this field experience can be assessed by
surveying the staff of my school to see
who all is implementing eClass and
surveying the progress we have made
during our first semester of
implementing eClass.

9-12

For this experience I spent the entire

day learning about technology and
ways to incorporate it in to the
classroom. Professors from
Kennesaw taught sessions on things
like The Gamification of
Education and The Flipped
Classroom. I walked away with
more tools on how to give all
students equitable access to
technology. The number one
complaint or concern among the
teachers at our school centers around
students having access to technology
outside of school.
2. How did this learning relate to the
knowledge (what must you know),
skills (what must you be able to do)
and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs,
enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader?
(Refer to the standards you selected in
Part I. Use the language of the PSC
standards in your answer and reflect
on all 3knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)
This experience was largely centered
around providing Gwinnett county
teachers, administrators and eClass lead
innovators with an opportunity to
demonstrate continual growth in
knowledge and skills of current and
emerging technologies (PSC Standard
6.1). The goal of this conference was to
give the attendees what they needed to

then go on and encourage innovation in

their school buildings. As part of the
leadership team at my school my
assistant principal and local school
technology coordinator also attended this
event. The county invited Travis Allens
iSchool initiative to train county teachers
on how to incorporate technology in to
the classroom. Not only did I have the
opportunity to learn techniques, I was
also able to study the disposition of the
trainers as they trained a mixed group of
experienced and unexperienced teachers
in an effort to get them excited about
incorporating technology in to the
classroom. Since this experience I have
had time to practice the same
dispositions while sharing some of the
tools and ideas that I learned.
3. Describe how this field experience
impacted school improvement, faculty
development or student learning at
your school. How can the impact be
assessed?
Since this field experience is relatively
new I do not think it has impacted my
school yet. I did recently put together a
digital newsletter using Smore in order
to share some of the highlights of the
conference with my staff. In the
newsletter I included videos from Travis
Allens iSchool initiative and the twitter
handle that was used for the digital
learning conference. I think a year from
now the impact of this conference can be
measured by surveying the innovation
occurring on campus.
