Unit Summary:

In this unit plan we will be exploring the affects of interpretation on literature. We will view and read various types of visual and audio
interpretations of Edgar Allen Poe's "A Dream Within a Dream" as well as other readings. This unit plan is designed to function as a guide and
resource for tools, information, and activities that will help students understand the affects of multiple interpretations on a reading. We will
explore the use of tone, pause, visual aids, images, audio, etc., to reinterpret literature. Students will also formulate their own interpretation of a
reading as well as write an argumentative paper to explain their interpretation, their use of interpretation tactics, and why their interpretation is
most successful in translating the reading.

Assessment Plan:
Entry-Level:

Formative:

Summative:

These assignments will be short with the

intention to gather what prior knowledge the
students have on the topic of interpretations.
One of the assignments that will be used for
this category is the Quickwrite on the
contribution of multiple interpretation to
literature.

These assignments will be based on the

teacher lecture and lesson plans that are
introduced throughout the first half of the unit.
These assignments will help students practice
discussing about the affects of interpretations
as well as memorizing the history and different
interpretation techniques used. Some of these
assignments include a webercise, quiz, class
discussion, and guided notes.

These assignments will help assess the

students acquired knowledge and
interpretation skills learned throughout the
entire unit. These assignments will required
the student to formulate their own
interpretations as well as analyze the function
