GENERAL REFLECTION
Overall, how successful was this lesson?
I think that this lesson was somewhat successful. The students who took the activity seriously, asking
questions and working diligently were successful in achieving the lesson objectives, but students who chose
not to participate fully did not learn successfully.
GOALS/OBJECTIVES
In what ways were your goals/objectives appropriate for your students?
I think that my content goals and objectives were very appropriate in that they aligned to the TEKS and
supported both the content and process standards.
In what ways were they not appropriate?
I dont think the goals and objectives were inappropriate in any way.
ASSESSMENT
How effective were your assessment strategies in measuring student achievement of the learning goals/
objectives for this lesson?
Formative assessment with the sticky note and homework review was successful so that gaps in learning
could be identified. The picture activity also provided a great way to assess the students ability to apply
academic concepts learned in class to real world situations.
Would you make any changes to the assessments strategies you used? What changes would you make and
why?
I would allow more time for collaborative sharing of the students pictures, perhaps the next day, to really
allow students to collaborate and more deeply understand the concept of scale and its applications to real
life.

ALTERATIONS
Did you depart in any way from your plan? If so, how? Why?
Yes, we did not complete the entire lesson during this class period. During other classes, I was able to
complete the entire lesson plan, but my eighth period tends to be more distracted and work through
activities slowly.
INSTRUCTIONAL DELIVERY Respond to these questions for each aspect.

Instructional
Strategies

Student
Grouping

Student
Activities

Materials, Resources,
and Technology

Were the following aspects of your

instructional delivery effective for all
students? Why or why not?

What would you do differently to

improve the lesson?

Yes. Instruction was designed to

reach all different types of
learners and allow students to
incorporate their own interests
into their work with the picture
activity.
Students worked independently
on this lesson, using neighbors for
questions and support as
necessary.

I would not change the

instructional strategies.

The activities were very

successful. The warm up
reinforced previous learning and
the activity allowed students to
apply information to real life and
bring their own interests into the
classroom.
The materials, resources, and
technology used for the lesson all
worked well.

I would give students the

assignment to bring a picture
earlier in the week or give them
class time to create pictures the
day before.

I would not change grouping for

this lesson.

I might include sample activities

for students to pass around and
use as a model for their own
activity.
