ROLE OF AN
ENTREPRENEUR
An entrepreneur is a person who takes
the risk of starting a business. The entrepreneur
takes all the profit and is liable for all losses. He
offers a good or a service for sale.
The role of an entrepreneur are to invent and
commercialize new goods and services. He also
looks for ways to improve goods and services and
seeks out new business opportunities. Furthermore,
the entrepreneur checks the progress of the
workers and also gives each worker a task , plans
what they are going to do in the future and how
he/she can work faster and progress as a company.

TYPE OF PRODUCTION
The type of production Tasty Treat is involved
in is secondary production. Tasty Treat is involved
in secondary production because we get product
from agriculture (e.g. wheat which is made into
flour), which is primary production, and we make
product out of it (e.g. cakes and pastries).

LEVEL OF PRODUCTION
The level of production Tasty Treat is
involved in is domestic production. Domestic
production is when you have an adequate amount
of product to provide for your country but not for
export. Tasty Treat is involved in domestic
production because the business has just been
established and so, we do not have adequate
starting capital to hire more staff and purchase
more fixed assets. This results in there being a
lesser production of products and thereby reaching
a smaller range of customers. Furthermore, due to
the small nature of the business, we cannot yet
produce at a large enough scale for exportation to
other countries. Tasty Treat produces one 100 jam
puffs ,25 horse shoes, 30 cakes,20 turnovers and
40 croissant on a daily basis. On slow day we make
half the amount we usually make.

QUALITY CONTROL
Quality control carried out by Tasty Treat
are to ensure that machines (ovens and mixers)
are clean and serviced every month and the food
products are stored at their correct temperature.
Another form of quality control carried out by Tasty
Treat is by strictly ensuring that all product are
thrown away before their expiry date.

USE OF TECHNOLOGY
The type of technology used by Tasty Treat are
computers and mixers and industrial ovens. The
mixer are use to mix batter for cakes and pastries.
The computers are use to store the progress of the
workers , the amount of money maid on a daily
bases and its asset and liability.

LINKAGES
Tasty Treat is involved in both backward and
forward linkages. The backward linkages are that
Tasty Treat is buying direct from the flour mill and
from which we are making products at the bakery.
The forward linkages are the product made at the
bakery are sold to customers.
BACKWARD LINKAGES:
FLOUR MILL BAKERY
FORWARD LINKAGES
BAKERY CUSTOMER
The linkages will benefit the business
because buying wholesale direct from the flour mill
will work out cheaper than buying retail and any
other wholesalers who are buying from the flour
mill.

POTENTIAL FOR
GROWTH
Tasty Treat can grow internally and
externally. Tasty Treat can grow internally by
employing more workers and buying more
industrial mixers and ovens. The workers can make
more products to sell customers because it have
more space to bake stuff in the industrial oven and
mix more batter.
Tasty Treat can grow externally by opening
more branches around the island and also by
opening a special branch which make products that
wholesale to supermarket and other business
around the island.

GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS
The government regulations Tasty Treat
has to follow are to register the business, pay
taxes, health permits and food licenses. If the
business is not registered we cannot operate a
business, if we do not have a health permit we
cannot sell our product as we will not be able to
certify that our products were made in sanitary and
healthy conditions and if we do not have a food
licenses we cannot sell our product.

ETHICAL ISSUES
Ethical issues Tasty Treat can encounter is if
product has some defect or something is found in
the product which is not supposed to be inside (e.g.
rapper, pin, etc ). If any of the above ethical issues
had to happen it will be bad publicity for the
business and we would lose future and existing
customers which would cause the business to
undergo losses or even to close down.
